Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
haha its all good. I didnt have my glasses on so it looked mint. :chuckle and you didnt see the bits of plastidip everywhere on my car. Even a few strings of it on my whipers. May have also noticed, NO SPOILER. Almost lost it at kies but I kept my cool. Wait two weeks to hear the same thing again about templates. They are going to try and find a template. These dealerships are full of nincompoops.

Thanks man :) wasn't sure how this style of lip would look with the old BBS but I'm happy. I'm gonna have to stop eventually, lol. I'm really trying to be done for the summer, save for one more that's in the mail.

The installer did have some trouble with mine. If you open my hatch you can see he drilled the holes in the wrong spot first, and had to fix it. So they're probably not too stoked on doing that again.

Its a DIY. Super easy. I'll let you know the secret...
Took the mounting screws for the plate bracket and screwed them straight into the "moustache" on the lower grill lol

I like the ms3 spoiler, but I don't want it to look like I'm trying to fool people into thinking I have a Speed3. I am happy with my GT spoiler for now. The plan for now is to keep the GT and maybe next summer add a CF lip to it. If I do decide to change it up, I'd likely go with the Autoexe rear wing.
Plus, my goal is to get real low, and I feel like the GT spoiler helps the car look lower.

Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
My wheels are begging to be refinished. Leaning towards THIS:
http://img844.imageshack.us/img844/1...cewhitelip.jpg
There is no doubt in my mind that this is what I WANT to do to my rims... I just can't decide if this look will work well with 17's. I also plan to drop lower (sportlines at least) if that makes any difference.
Thoughts?
I know I'll regret this... but I was also considering these options:

Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
Do er up. Will look great! Even the red could work with your tail lights. I'm not feeling the teal as much though, maybe cause it looks strange on that red civic lol.
IMO

Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
im liking the red. you could rock the white and red theme!!!
red white lip?

yeah maybe... I don't want to have a "canada flag" theme though. I already have red calipers and tails... I think the red faces might be overkill

I purchased the wheels intending to refinish them in teal. Looks killer on a white car.

But I also really dig this...

Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
I thought about the black face white lip thing for awhile, still quite like it but I think it works best on flap lips with no step
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
Teal. The black really won't show off the design of the wheel; to me black only works on larger wheels these days.
You can't go wrong with coloured centers and polished lips. Plus IMO it has wider appeal if/when you sell them in the future.
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
Thanks for the opinions, everyone!
The rims have been turned on a lathe once already. And thanks to a stealth curb in a McDonalds drive-thru, will need it again. I'll have to seek some professional advice as to if they can be taken down a bit more. I'm already excited for next summer :)
Thinking of spacing out front and rear. I was thinking 3-5mm up front and 5-10mm out back. What can I do without chopping my studs?
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
^ Just spacers no more than 5mm to be save.
If you want the spacers and stud deals you have to go to 15mm I think to keep stock length studs
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
I have 15mm out back and needed extended studs :( but might be different for the first gen though?
and teal ftmfw :D

What did it take to install the extended studs?
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
Remove the brakes, hammer out the stock studs, then put the new ones in. Took about an hour and a half for just the rear, and I hear the fronts take a lot longer as well
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
Ya I think the front is slightly more complicated but same approach
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
My fronts will be fine (imo) as is or with a small spacer. Its my rears that I really want to poke out because of the greater stretch :)
Then again, I may be happy with the look when I get more low.
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
If you want to do spacers there's a guy locally that sells spacers and extended studs. The guy that was doing my alignment recommended him to me. Apparently he can also do custom built spacers as well.

Great to know :)
First things first though... I need to find some coils.

On the facebook TM3 page: "My friend is selling his 1 month old BC coilover setup with extreme drop for 900, holler if you want"
Dunno if your on there, might wanna look at that :)

Haha, Phil told me about this deal on BBM this week. Unfortunately I never have $900 lying around so it'll have to be a calculated purchase lol
I think I'm leaning towards Stance GR+ coils. You can get 'em for $1150 taxes included, and they claim their new design can tuck rim :whoa
I dunno though, brand new BC's with EDP for $900? If that deal comes up again when I have the money, I may jump all over it.
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
That deal is gone.
Where does stance make that claim? link?

I have no link. I'm going off a conversation with a sponsor who contacted them on my behalf for info about max drop. This is what I was told:
Quote:
Just got off the phone with the guys at Stance. They have a new revised version that goes even lower. They say "tucking wheels shouldn't be a problem"
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
Tucking wheel's or tires? 19's or 17's? Seems like a vague answer but I'm interested to see them installed.
I almost pulled the trigger on the Stance GR+'s but they wouldn't go as low as I wanted. It's funny thinking back that I originally just wanted to go around 2 inches lower. Then when I put the coils on the car I just kept cranking them down every week until they were bottomed out. Now I can't even get out of my underground parking without scraping the bumper a bit. lol
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
Haha, guess you're right. They probably mean tucking tire not rim. I'd have to have some sort of confirmation from them that they will go low enough.
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
Went for a little drive this morning, car was pretty clean so I decided to pull over and take a couple shots. I put my RA's back on cause I was sick of how fast road gunk built up on my doors.
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/7753/allianceshot1.jpg
http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/5...ianceshot3.jpg
Eyelids will be getting paint soon (probably, I'm lazy).
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
I think I might get RA too, little sprinkle on the roads and the rear and the sides look like i went off roading. :complain
And nice you got the eyelids. Looks good as is, compliments the plastidipped grill. lol and you have one reverse light cut out of the red tint? :P Nice
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
lol, yeah just one reverse light :P Don't know why I decided to leave it... but I feel no desire to do the other one now haha
If I go lower, I'll have to leave the rear RA's off. They scrape every time I leave the driveway as is, and I'm sure if i were lower they'd just rip off.
-
Re: ssawatsky's 07 CWP GS
Love the look of your car...really makes me regret getting velocity red lol.
The 3 looks mint, might have to grab a set of the flaps as well, they look nice and they're functional which is always nice
