Re: Mazda 3 insurance cost per month ????
Yeah that's just ridiculous... You know there might be a chance that the person who quoted you that price made a slight mistake on clicking stuff... Nothing can ever justify doubling a premium if you move 5 minutes down the street.. You ever tried TD Meloche Monnex? They're ok and I've had them for a year and a half and I've never had problems with them...

Welllll originally I got the quote on the premium calculator on their website, so I called because I was sure it was a mistake... her price was actually more expensive than the one I got online lol... Either way, it's doubling, give or take a few extra dollars.
I'll definitely be calling around next week, I'll give TD a call too. At the very least, this move is temporary. Kinda makes you think though, if you're planning on moving, it makes sense to get quotes for the different areas you're looking at moving into lol... save yourself A LOT of money!

See that's just another thing to be worried about.. What I think is when you're moving somewhere, you should only be focusing on how your life is gonna be on a daily basis in terms of safety, convenience and affordability (maybe other "important" factors as well). Adding in insurance cost due to location just makes you blow something up.. :bang
Hopefully you find something better though.. Because doubling premiums based on location seems very fishy and totally wrong....

Re: Replying to Topic \'Mazda 3 insurance cost/ month ????\'
@mazdabetty, sorry to hear. i had someone tell me that their insurance used to be cheaper when they lived in the downtown core than it is now in markham.
the reason for this is the likely-hood of driving around downtown is less than if you were in the suburbs where you drive everywhere so that's why the premiums are higher. however, in your case that's just completely insane. it's time to look elsewhere. gl

Re: Replying to Topic \'Mazda 3 insurance cost/ month ????\'
My girlfriend just got a 2011 Mazda 3 GT Crystal White Pearl and got insurance for $194 / mth
Area: Thornhill, South side of Hwy 7
Co: Dominion of Canada
Full coverage
We checked other insurance companies and we were quoted significantly more. approx $250/mth. So for those looking to insure a Mazda 3 check out Dominion of Canada

Re: Mazda 3 insurance cost per month ????

State farm was another quote that was high. My girl is 26 and we only report annual travel of 10000km (minimum KM required on insurance). 2mil liability etc...
It is always a good idea to combine insurance with parents if possible, cuz it gets u multi vehicle discount of 10% and at $3000 / yr, that saves u $300

That alone seems to be the most important factor nowadays, I've found.Clean driving record and age seems to mean very little, which to me is completely retarded but what are you going to do? Insurance Companies here in Ontario with the help of our Ontario Government, have us all by the U-know-whats...

Went up by about $28 per month when I switched to the speed.. Can't complain really.. :)
Do you live and are Insured in Ontario? Cause in Ontario anytime you are rear-ended it is NEVER your fault, even if you stopped dead at a green light for no reason. The person who hit you from behind is always 100% at fault. FDR (Fault Determination Rule) 6.2. I'd call your Insurance Adjuster and ask wtf and quote that FDR.

Oh, actually I just realized that my description is incomplete. What happened was, I was just about to come to a halt, when somebody hit me from behind then I hit the guy in front of me causing pretty bad damage on my front end (hood bent, washer fluid reservoir crack). I was on full brakes so the front end dove under the rear end of the guy in front of me. That's why it was 50/50.... According to the police report I was following too closely (I mean cars are all doing sudden stops and started piling up).. And yes, I'm insured in Ontario.....

Ok yes, in that case it is a 50/50. I just didn't want you to get screwed because an adjuster wasn't doing their job. :)

I had almost the same scenario a few years back... the car behind rear-ended me and pushed me to the car in front. I was not-at-fault though. I wasn't completely stopped, but would've stopped if the guy didn't hit me. Apparently, it depends on if you hit the car in front first then the dude behind rear-ends you, or if the dude rear-ends you and you hit the car in front.

Re: Mazda 3 insurance cost per month ????
That's exactly the same situation I was then... Car coming to a complete stop (almost, not even 10km/h speed), then, BAM!! Rear-ended, residual momentum still present on my car, that's why I hit the guy in front.. I tried explaining that stuff to the police officer, but meh, what can you do.. In a few more years it'll all clear up I suppose...

In cases like this, I find the FDR to be totally BS. So what happens if you don't agree with the fault determination? Do you go to court or something, or just deal with your insurance company?

Hmmm, well, it's going to be in the police report so if you don't agree, I suppose you have to take it back to them... I haven't done anything like that so I'm not sure. Anything can be done, however, it will/might cost you some time and maybe money as well.

The HTA is what police use, FDR's is what Insurance companies have to use. In theory, some situations you can be wrong/at fault in the HTA, but in the FDR's, you could be not at fault. i.e. You are drunk in your car, stopped dead at a red light waiting for it to turn green and you are rear ended. Are you drunk, yes, but did that cause the accident, no. So you would be charged with DUI, but when proven that you were stopped at a red light and rear-ended, you are not at fault in the FDR's (it gets a little more complecated then that but you get the idea, check FSCO website for all the FDR's)
Anyways, the FDR's were brough in by FSCO, when they legislated the 'No fault or DCPD' Insurance in Ontario. There is basically a FDR for every kind of accident. Insurance Co's have to use them to determine fault. I fyou don't agree with the FDR used to determine your accident, speak with your adjuster and prove your arguement, if that doesn't work, speak to their manager and if you are still not happy, Insurance Companies have Ombudsman that you can speak too.
