Daily stop and go highway and combined city driving with some spirited episodes.
So glad I got the 2.0L w/ 5MT. :D Note: running synthetic engine oil and synthetic manual trans oil. K&N drop in air filter.

Sounds very similar to me......have an 06 with 142K. Was getting about 450km per tank max on mixed driving. After I got the throttle body cleaned, the last three fill ups gave me 560 to 585km! woot!Quote:

Come back after 6 months of properly tracking your mileage with a tool like Fuelly, instead of glancing at the inaccurate trip computer.

2011 speed 3 I get maybe 500km to a tank with 94 octane and amsoil synthetic..... Mixed between hwy and city.. I have 5500km on the odo.. Had the car for just over a month. I have put 2000km on the car so far

I've got about 600kms on my 3 and I'm noticing that my gas is depleting faster than it should while driving nice. Does fuel economy really get much better after engine break-in?

Would I perhaps get better fuel economy after engine break-in? Your opinions are appreciated :)

Actually, it's not the hard braking you have to worry about. It's the soft braking. You should never step on the brakes unless you intend to stop. The accelerator pedal is for controlling speed. If you need to use your brakes when following somebody, you're following too close!Quote:

It's about 50/50 highway/city.
On the subject of breaking-in a new engine:
My fuel economy for the first few fill ups sucked. Low of 9.5L/100KM and high of 10.5. But I also purposely avoided highways and kept the revs up more than usual during the break-in. (No, not red line high, but under 4k for the first 2000 km)
Best trip:
Driving down to Maine, taking US 2 the whole way with speed hovering around 80km/h the whole time on the twisty hilly roads, I got 7.09L/100km on the tank. W00T!
