You need MAF calibration
Printable View
Would you not only need MAF cal if you're car would run too lean or rich? I though the ots cobb maps set all of that stuff up...if you stick with the upgrades that correspond to the maps?
So when do you know when you need the MAF cal?
When you compare targeted Afrs to actual
What are the targeted afr's?
There was a guide by alibor from msf on here, don't know where it went. Your best bet is to go to one of the mspeed seminars. Or you meet up with us when we do one of the timmies meets.
omg all of this is frustrating. ATR...don't know what you're talking about.
I have the Abilor guide somewhere and it's also posted here
So much as changed since with regards to tuning logic however the basics are the same and it does provide a good understanding of some of what's going on and why
Time for an update since I just got this moved to the right place, thank you loki!
So I got my car back in April after I graduated, felt like getting myself my own grad gift lol... then I joined this forum to realize that I had to read a crap load to understand what the platform has to offer and what mods to put in to support the power.
Mods in order of installation:
Painted Cailpers (Black with silver mazdapspeed sticker)
Rally Armor
JBR short shift plate
JBR solid shift bushings
JBR heavy shift knob
JBR 88A Rear Motor Mount (yes it gives vibes at low rpms, feels like a racecar!)
Mazda Aftermarket Window Visors
Cobb SRI and TIP (Started with K&N SRI but changed my mind)
Cobb AccessPort
Saiko Oil Catch Can (Mspeed version)
Winter Tires/Rims (Pics below)
Autotech internals (Installing soon)
Cp-e TMIC (Installing soon)
Cp-e 3'' Downpipe (Installing soon... maybe... heard it's a biatch)
Gonna grab me an exhaust and a tune in the spring or perhaps sooner if I get bored enough and have some money... feeling poor at the moment lol.

Nice mod list buddy.
I say go for the downpipe install before riding through a winter. The bolts will likely be easier to get off now that after the salt shock.
eric
I will probably do it as soon as I get enough time do have my car out of commission for a day lol... It would be awesome to get all the stuff on a friday and have a weekend install frenzy. I know I need to grab some different sockets and extensions to get the downpipe done though.
The mod list grew so fast lol... should have known
The dark rims are my winter set, I still have the stock coloured ones too :)
Time for an update...
Just put in Denso ITV22's gapped at 0.026 and the car is running great, did a run last night with and didn't get any knock. On the drive to work I didn't get any small KR values which was crazy since I am used to seeing a couple random 0.3's and 0.7's. So I think my stock spark plugs have had it since these new onces really seem to get rid of almost all my KR.
I also got a new exhaust put on at Master Performance in Brampton. They did an awesome job with the install, just need to go back tomorrow to get a muffler put on because with just a resonator on it's loud as hell on cold starts, I will post a video of what it sounds like now and what it sounds like with a muffler + resonator. It's a 3'' pipe going from the cats all the way down to 4'' tips.
