Do you have the v2 or the v2b?
My connection is pretty snug and I usually have to press on the tab to release it. Maybe you can bend the tab a bit?

@loki Getting the logs is reason enough, but I also like to have something tangible (ex. a bag full of Costco goodies) to bring back - multitasking! Am I correct in assuming that you do not shut the car off at any point (after driving 80km) before doing the MAF pulls?
@fyw I think I have a v2b. The cable looks like the one below:
http://a248.e.akamai.net/origin-cdn....jpg?1329991235
Yep, that's the one.
My cable points downwards too... I mean it wiggles a bit if I try, but it isn't so loose that it'll slip off. It could be the clip then. Perhaps next NATOR meet or whatever, we can swap cables to see if you get the same prob.
edit: if you have some sort of mount, perhaps you can tape the cable to it so that the mount can hold it up.
Yeah, the wiggle is what I'm talking about. The AP does not lose connection when I wiggle the cable or pull it lightly, and it doesn't slip off, but it just doesn't inspire confidence. I've considered getting one of my velcro zipties (with the extremely fine surface texture) and just securing it around the cable connection for extra support. I'll try it out later tonight and see how it goes.
Don't have a mount, just stuck a piece of black velcro to the dsc/afs panel. My AP was used and had a piece of velcro on the back. Seems to hold it very securely, but reading the AP screen at that angle is not a good idea if I'm going fast.
Blah blah blah. Just to do the faccking logs bro!
Oh yeah. Make sure you do a 4th gear wot starting from 2k and just step on the bitch to red line. And by the way dont be scared. ;)
Ok guys. If I jack the car up and smash the shit outa the exhaust hangers with a sledge eventually they will break and the exhaust will fall ord. If I touch it now it doesn't really move but the fact that it could doesn't inspire confidence. Any ideas as to how I could secure it? As we I haven't wiped my ads since I've been outa diapers. Any thoughts on how I could wipe my ads effectively?
What in the world are you trying to do that you need to sledge off exhaust hangers?!
Epic
I like llamas idea to wipe your ads with starbucks napkins
Tim hortons napkins will work too, but you have to use 3 times the amount to make the same point
So I did better MAF calibration logs tonight. I saw LTFTs like this:
1.15V - 1.18V == [-8.59%]
1.3V - 1.97V == [-3.91%]
1.99 - 3.7V == [-2.34%] (I stopped logging past like 130~ g/s)
I did 4 logs and they appear to be pretty consistent for the approximate values detailed above. So I opened up ATR, went to the Sensor Cal. Tables > MAF Table A and did the following:
a) Highlighted 1.29 ~ 1.95, hit M and entered 0.9609
b) Highlighted 1.99 ~ 3.71, hit M and entered 0.9766
I didn't touch the voltages that did -8.91%, should I have? For voltages above 3.71 (next tier up was 3.75), should I have highlighted them all (from 3.75 ~ 5) and multiplied by (b)?
Guys...this is why we have NATOR and MSpeed...and this guy obviously never got it. here's what I got as a PM this morning. I really don't care how "allot guys feel about me"...lol...I did report his abusive PM to me, since I really didn't want to have a dialogue with this guy, as I just called him out for saying all our engines need a rebuild...
EDIT: So I guess the grand assessment from this individual is:Quote:
Report this FOBIO, I will not lie down while you make up facts about me that are untrue, blame me for resale value of mazda's say I am not resourceful etc.. etc... now your going to report my pm to the moderator WOW!!! I called you out on all the crap you have said about me and you have absolutely not one shred of anything to back up anything you have said on here!! Now cause you can't bully me your going report my pm's!! There is nothing wrong with my pm's you just think you can go and make up facts about anyone and it's ok! Really if I needed help it would not be from you that's for sure! then going on and saying can't wait for me to sell my car i'm hurting your bottom line??? please a vehicle is your worst liability and last time I checked Mazda place 2nd behind suburu and ahead of honda for residual value so what is it your talking about? An issue is an issue regardless of it being 1 or 1,000. Really you like flaming ppl so much you should be at home on MS3 forums.
P.S the last time I checked you started all this with your unfounded comments in the closed thread with untrue and nonfactual statements maybe I should report you FOBIO!! I can now understand how allot of guys feel about you on here with the left field comments you choose to make without knowing all the facts. I listed known problems with the MS3 and I hit a nerve with you eh! You can find these facts anywhere, and never once did I mention my fuel dilution problem you need to relax and stop thinking you will make you money back on your speed because that will never happen and no you cant fix my problem there is only one solution and that is a rebuild period.
1. As a group, we were never able to observe, analyse and implement a solution to our problems.
2. That the effort we have put in as a group amounts to nothing but gibberish, vs a one-man crusade against Mazda, supposedly, all for the community.
3. That guys who can't figure it out and blame Mazda, is why we should all be lined up at the dealership everyday doing oil test so Mazda will rebuild our motors.
4. NATOR is an ineffective support network.
5. The culminated discoveries of all the users here and on MSF can be disregarded, be cause we don't know better than someone blaming Mazda for a crappy engine, when a catch can, upgraded fuel pump and other various DIY solutions can solve 90% of the issue of a mildly modded car.
6. That we are better not leave the hosue today because we need a rebuild. Yeah...Mazda should rebuild all our engines.
This is exactly the kind of bullshit we have been helping owners new and old slice thru. We all know guys that blew and why, and we are all doing things on a daily basis to help. The fact that these individuals have instead chosen to bash on the engine solely based on their personal issue while disregarding the sampling from the larger user group is downright ignorant. Financially speaking, any car is a liability, but nothing stops us from improving the ownership experience of our EMOTIONAL investment. Those of us who are considerate and looks at the larger picture rather than ourselves will understand that going online and generally bitching doesn't get us as a group, or individually anywhere...but if we can support each other, then we will geenrally have a positive impact on the community, our bottomline, and believe it or not, our resale value.
The guys who have recently bought or looking to buy a used one know what I'm talking about....a well maintained MS3 no long commands the ~$10K it used to. A ~100K MS3 is now $15K+. If they are lemons as this individual describes and we all need rebuilds, our resale value will certainly suffer as can be seen back in 2009 when the very first Gen1's were being dumped and guys were blowing. Fast forward to 2012, not so much...and we don't need the dumbassery of previous owners hanging over our heads when we now have enough support to solve anything that a JAPANESE AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURER decided not to since they really didn't want us to mod the car to begin with.
The struggle continues...
Well said Vincent..
I know from my experience and i'm sure I can say the same for most of the Speed owners out there the knowledge and ideas that are offered on this forum are next to none by the senior speed owners.
This being my first boosted car I was not to sure with what to mod first but from the help of Nator and other speed owners I now have a much better understanding of how the Speed motor works and what to look out for and also the fixes that will prolong the life of motor.
Just my 2 cents...
This guys engine is fawked for sure he needs a rebuild. His oil comes out like water due to insane amounts of fuel dilution which Mazda said was normal lol .... try 10% fuel dialution according to his thread on MSF. Correct me if I am wrong Fobio but shouldn't acceptable level of fuel dilution be no greater than .5 to 2 %?
His engine MAY be ****ed...but that doesn't mean all of ours are by association. Not knowing the full history of his car, myself, and anyone else on the Internet reading his rant MAY think that all our engines are ****ed. Who knows, perhaps he ****ed his own engine by implementing what HE personally believed to have been appropriate solutions...wonky oils, maybe even an incorrect intake without an air straightener, disregard for others advise, and maybe only posting but never really reading on the Internet.
Fact is, we are aware of fuel dilution and how it comes about. In the Mod Path series, Oil Thread, Ownership and Tuning Seminars, we acknowledge many of the shortcomings of the engine AND solutions. This individual, went his own way. And if it's so bad, that he has to rage at the Internet about, well, I know what I'd do....I'd get rid of the car/problem and bane of my existence.
You are a total tool FOBIO still you post crap without knowing all the facts!! Yes all the problems coming to the DISI turbo can be resolved! But what you are doing is modifying a car from stock form and this is when you will get voided warranty. I bought this car under the assumption that it was a finished product, when in fact it is not! I have Mazda warranty and MAP warranty and I have no intention other than the use of Mazdaspeed parts and accessories to enjoy my ride!
You go off saying we all need rebuilds when in fact I said my solution is this as none of your known fixes will resolve my issues, I do nothing to resale value when the Kelly black book on mine is $18,800 with 58K why don't you work out straight line depreciation and figure out your value it will be pretty close!! FOBI YOUR A TOOL just like the oil thread you started with no fuel dilution figures. WOW.
I have my facts in hand none of which you know but want to ASSUME all the time. If I bought a car with no warranty then maybe I could do all the mods that you say will cure my lemon but the fact is this is a new car and I should not have to do any of that. Maybe I should go buy a Garret turbo cause my stock one has been replaced already so I can ensure it does not go again. Maybe I should do the VVT fix on my car that Mazda wont do so the problem is solved once and for all not just replace parts with same failure prone parts!
Really FOBIO does it give you extra clout on here to make it look like your the MAZDA hero saving all our bottom lines from the natural rate of depreciation by flaming someone without facts or knowledge or all second hand information?
Really get a Life and stop judging ppl and spreading B.S bottom line I bought a new car and should not have to worry about returning to stock because the mods that could cure my car are not warranty approved PERIOD end of story. I for one will not spend $40,000 on a car to do what Mazda should of for them to fu**K me !!!
FOBIO the new TM3 GOD lets all bow to the newest word of the land!!
Again your ASSUMING!! all the parts were installed by the Mazda dealer and yes the CAI had an air straightener in it and the only wonky oil put in the car was the Amsoil heavy duty diesel and marine oil 15W/40 that MCI instructed mazda dealer to put in the car 7mths before turbo replacement!! SO really what are you getting at. I have a problem with my car, how can you assume that someone will think they all do???
THanks FOBIO for ASSUMING11
Holy faaaaccckkkk :blah
Dont close this thread let us work out our issues lol...
Ding round 2....:pop
:blah :blah :blah At the end of the day we all drive shit boxes. So stop whining Chris!!!!!!!!
If you want a car without problems go buy a Toyota bro!
