Does insurance actually go down when you turn 25? I've been told that my entire life and a lot of people I know swear its true. But when I turned 25, I didn't see any rate adjustment. I understand it probably doesn't happen the day after your brithday, but when my contract renewed I got nothing.
State Farm is a large renowned insurance company, been with them for 6 years now, but jesus they're running me into the poor house. If I wasn't living with my parents temporarily, I'd be paying substantially more. I think it's time to shop around. Anyone here a broker? ;)
I'm with Johnsons and when I turned 25 the rates did decrease. If you graduated from a college or university ask if they are registered for a discount with your provider as that will also help! Multi-vehicle? Combine renter's insurance with auto? Try these tricks to lower your rate as much as possible.

apparently im classified as a "high risk driver"
when i bought my 90 civic no one would even insure me for it because it was over 20 years old,
so that car(sold now)
and my 2005 mazda 3 are under my Step dads Name(58,clean record)

I pay $223/month with Belair Direct. I'm 24 w/ G license and clean driving record, 2011 sport
I'm jumping from a 2011 Ford F150 5 L V8 6 speed auto 400 HP (!) into the 2012 Mazda GX A/C, 148 HP, 5 speed manual on October 10, 2012 (yes!). Called my TD Insurance to switch coverage. They charged $140 (I think) for the Ford, now it's $158 for the much smaller Mazda. I asked why. They said because of the safety ratings and theft statisticks :( I'm 50 and have a AZ trucking license though insurance don't seem to give a *amn whether you're a professional driver who covers 1,800 - 2,000 miles a week SAFELY in a big rig, or you're a typical suburban driver who does ... 500 - 700 miles a week. Still, looking at what some other people here pay for insurance, I figure $158/mo in my case isn't too bad especially since they will give me a new car is this one is totalled (bridge). I asked TD when they start increasing the premium based on older age, they said, "After 70!" :)

Belair - T.O.
Was paying ~$190 in 2009-2010, then came insurance reform in 2011(?) which pumped it to ~$250.
I'm back to about ~$190 again just a couple months ago.
My insurance just went down to $209/month from $223/month because of my winter tires:)

I had a 2007 Harley Davidson F-150 and was paying $149/month. My 3 was $169/month and just recently went down to $158. I also was disappointed to find out that having my DZ does nothing for my car insurance, besides the fact I spent over a week at Humber College to get it which cost close to $3k!! And I drive a huge line truck everyday with a 30ft trailer, pretty sure I can handle my 3!!

Just got my G today.. I'm 19 with no driving record, 2012 2.0L Sport, and I called today and it dropped 50/month so I'm at 340/month.. I'm with Bel Air as well.
Made a few changes to the policy.

If there are any graduates from U of T or Queens, I highly suggest you speak with Meloche Monnex through TD Canada trust. They offer ridiculous discounts to grads. There may be other schools but those are the two that pertained to my wife and I.
