Seems I missed a word. It is high risk facility insurance. Although his insurance just called it high facility.
I'm 22/23(in a week and a half) I pay $187 a month with belair, Didn't get my G2 till I was 18 I think :/ So only been driving for 4 years. I also live in the "country" so that helps with insurance cost. Still expensive though.

I'm 28, i was listed as a secondary driver on my sister's insurance for one year.
I have one ticket that expires in two months and one suspension for not having paid that ticket right away.
My insurance is $257. I'm really hoping it'll go down next year once that ticket has been excised from my file!
What do you guys think?

Had 1-2 tickets, I think my abstract is clean now. I pay about $140/month with Desjardins. (Living near Streetsville, Mississauga)
The suspension thing is pretty dumb (because it's not a suspension do to poor driving) - I don't think they should be able to ding you for that............
If the insurance doesn't go down, I would call the insurer to make sure they have your updated information. Otherwise, go on kanetix.ca and shop around.
Where you live, and the amount of coverage also has an impact on your rates.
I'm getting my insurance officially tomorrow so i can pick up the car on Tuesday... and it sucks cause if i had waited two more months that ticket would have been gone from my abstract.
It's funny i was calling around getting quotes and every place gave me a quote except one: ScotiaBank Financial.
My suspension was too much for them. I laughed and told the rep: "TD, your main competitor, is willing to to take me for 267." PFFFT...no wonder i don't bank with them!
Suspension for unpaid fines does not affect insurance. You don't even have to disclose.
When I was shopping for new insurance 2 years ago I has 2 suspensions for unpaid. I disclosed to all quoters and they all said the same thing.
Even on belairs site. It asks about suspensions, and says don't include suspensions for unpaid fines.
How long have you had your license? Is that 1 year of insurance all you have had in the past?
Yes the one year insurance is all i've had. I've had my G since 2009, my G1 test was in 2004. I drove without being insured as a secondary driver for a looooooong time.

I'll do that, around the summer, letting a few months go by. I'm partially considering picking up some cheap car alarm or winter tires to help bring down the cost. The Rep said if i put on some winters the price would go from 257 to 245, adding an aftermarket alarm should help as well.

I just realized the Toyota dealership who sold me my car added disability insurance when i told them I DID NOT want it. They were sneaky and i was stupid. What happened was, the day i went it and made the deal we set up most of the paperwork. I signed the sales receipt which clearly showed there WAS NOT any insurance purchased. The problem was the paperwork did not reflect the downpayment i left. The sales manager said we would fix it when i picked up the car. So last Tuesday i go to pick up the car before work. I informed them i had work at 4 and they said they would get me going as quick as possible but they had been delayed with some issues. They get me into the office a couple hours later (4:15) and quickly reprint the documents and have me resign everything, assuring me it's all the same paperwork. I quickly glance into the downpayment section to confirm it's good and sign. It isn't until today that i find an extra 1000 insurance policy on my bill of receipt burried all the way at the bottom. Plus and insurance form they had stuck in the middle of the loan paperwork which i had signed because it was all supposed to be the same paperwork!!! I'm unimpressed. Luckily the insurance company will give me a full refund, and i'll just add that to the load, bringing it back to what it should be. Unfortunatly my payments will be much higher a month than they should be.
What do you guys think?
I hate sneaky dealerships like this. I had a similar experience with buying my car...still overall had a good experience but my monthly payments were much higher because of warranties and fees that they "snuck" inQuote:
