Love when someone tries to sell a speed3 on the forum. Always brings the idiots out of the woodworks to comment

You guys think I can run with no skidplate? After Saturday I couldn't get it back on properly because the bolts were too rusted and broke off when I was removing them. Just 1 was left and it fell apart so I had to saw it off this morning before work. Do I really need a skid plate? People on MSF seem to think not but just to be safe. I guess I'd go Corksport as it's just a little more than OEM and it's aluminum.
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
first the skid plate, then the floorboard rivets. then the manifold
that shit is critical

I haven't ran the skidplate in a long time. I got tired of taking it off all the time. Not only that but it conceals leaks early on, so you find out about them when they are really bad.

I took mine off too. I will put it back on for the winter.
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
I keep my skid plate on thanks
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
Some people have said it achieves cooler intake temps but I have yet to test that. Don't think that really matters anyway.
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
I keep mine on aswell, it only takes a min to take off.

Ask Boyracer if it takes a minute to take off
:chuckle
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
I keep mine in.. Think about it, that thing is the only barrier between crap on the road (rocks, etc) and the bottom of the engine, especially the oil pan. I'll continue to keep mine in just to be safe.

he was ready to rip it off....lol never heard him swear so much :chuckle
Re: Random MS3 Chat Thread
Those cheapass retaining clips from Mazda are two piece and spot welded together. When they rust, the two pieces break free but spin around on themselves so that you can't use a socket wrench to remove the bolt. There are updated one piece clips that Mazda sells, but they're hella expensive for what they are (like $2 a clip or some shit).
