Please check out my Corksport Intake for my 2012 Mazda GX
Just installed my CorkSport SRI on my Mazda 3. I just wanted to double check with everyone if it looks ok. I noticed that with alot of intakes for other cars there is usually some sort of a support rod? Some kind of rod that attaches to your car, and kind of helps keep the intake "stabilized". (Forgive me if I'm not explaining this right)
Anyways, on my intake... it didn't come with any rods or anything. The whole intake attaches to the mass air flow, and everything is tightened with the clamps. See picture below.
So when I was reving the engine I notice that the intake kind of moves back and forth, almost like a "door stopper". Its nothing crazy, but I noticed it does that alittle bit.
Is this ok or normal?
Sounds great tho when I rev, and I noticed when I'm driving and it reaches higher RPM's, the engine sounds louder. Is that normal as well?

You can't hotlink your gmail attachement...

Re: Please check out my Corksport Intake for my 2012 Mazda GX
Sorry, had to correct myself, the intake is connected to the throttle body, not the mass air flow. Sorry.

Re: Please check out my Corksport Intake for my 2012 Mazda GX
lmao at the gmail link. but i understand what your trying to explain. the answer is yes, that is how it is supposed to be as it is a corksport sri (short ram intake). If it was a cold air which is the longer version intake, rods or braces will be needed.
the intake moves back and forth because the stock engine moves when you rev, thus the intake moves as well. make sure clamps are tight, especially at throttle body, and enjoy.
engine sounds louder because theoretically, more air is flowing into your engine, plus no box around the filter.

Ya sorry about the link, I am a complete noob to this. But the intake sounds sick when I rev it:) More of a deeper growl sound. Not much horsepower gain, but you can tell after a certain RPM it kicks in abit. Like gives it that little extra acceleration. Thanks for the reply.

Bought it from the corksport website, its 179 plus shipping, so total was 221. It actually came to my house in about a week and a half.

Try this link..

I have another question, actually its really important. My factory inlet tube that connects to the radiator, or front of car is still there. I never took it out. That tube in the pic is still there. Is that ok?

Re: Please check out my Corksport Intake for my 2012 Mazda GX
you have to embed the link on this site for use to see it.
and yes, thats fine, mine is still there as well, ziptied it to keep it out of the way./ from what i understand/told to me, helps feed air into the stock air box, nothing else.

Re: Please check out my Corksport Intake for my 2012 Mazda GX
Sounds good, thanks. My buddy actually recommended that, he said to zip tie so its pointing as close as possible to the filter, so it absorbs that air.
What is that tube anyways, what is its purpose?

precisely for that purpose. but because the stock airbox is gone now, its not feeding into any box, just open engine bay.

Make sure you disconnect the battery (assuming you actually followed the exact instructions), it does wonders later on.

I actually did not disconnect it:s
I was told that it wasn't a big deal if I didn't.
Why should have I disconnected it?

You should always disconnect the battery when working on an engine or electrical, it doesn't take much to fry the ECU. Friend of mine didn't disconnect the battery once and he was only doing something to the intake, but after he went to start it was completely dead and he fried the ECU.

Re: Please check out my Corksport Intake for my 2012 Mazda GX
I got another question guys, on my way to work today, I noticed driving at 100-110kms my rpms were at 3000. If I accelerated to 120 the rpms were going higher. When I accelerate as well at that speed the sound from the filter gets louder, but when I'm cruising its not. Like when I Down shift to pass a car on the hwy I here this loud "woooooooong" lol.
This normal? Thanks for the help.

How is your fuel consumption; same, better, or worse than before SRI install?

I'm not use to that sound it makes when I pass someone on the hwy. I just wanna make sure of its normal.
