If you didn't own a M3/MS3 what car would have you ended up with?

For me, it would either be VW Rabbit or the Honda Civic Coupe :)

VW or the new astra. I drove the matrix and was not a fan, and well the caliber is a joke. If I was to wait another two years, I would for sure buy the Euro spec focus we are getting shortly in North America. I got the 3 since it had the best exterior, interior and performance. I drove one about four months before I got mine and was sold right away on it.

I was looking at the Subaru Impreza hatch, VW Rabbit, Civic Sedan, and the Saturn Astra.
I took one test drive with the Mazda3 Sport first, and fell in love with it.

I would have ended up with a 2001-2002 VW Golf 1.8T

but then i saw a busted up M3 at some dealer, sat in the car casue it was priced pretty low. fell in love with the look and the interior..

Next day ended up at Gyro Mazda picked up a 2008.5 GS Sedan on 0 down 0 finance lol

Couldn't be happier! (well i could if they only had CWP in a GS with black interior!) oh well!

Probably the Pontiac G8 sedan.

I don't have neither currently but....Mz3 replacement = RABBIT, MS3 replacement = GTI/GLI!!!!!!
Get a fully loaded GTI or GLI and buy a set of coilpacks and stick'em in the trunk.

I'd love a Cobalt SS. love a civic si more but can't afford it.

At the time of my purchase was looking at the regular Civic, base Lancer, Impreza Wagon (which..I'm kinda :( on not spending the extra dough for it, AWD is surely nice), VW Rabbit or my mom's old Accord.

Probably a Lancer GTS, or a little later, an MS3 :chuckle

2nd choice was Civic SI. If I can do it all over again knowing my financial situation now, I'd have picked up a G37s last March instead of ms3. Not that I'm complaining, its a damn cheap quick new car

I would have kept my Protege 5. The mz3 is the only car I was looking to move up to. Next car? I was going to go to the msp3 at the end of 2009, but my fiancee wants me to get a G35 / 37. Hell, I think she's right! :)

Saturn Astra...I was close to buying one, but the Mazda had more room and was and a better value at the time. :)

same, if i had the cash, an used 2006/07 GTi 4 dr 6sp....

Astra wasn't out yet.

Sentra SE-R would've also been interesting, but ancient rear suspension design irked me.

My choices besides the MS3 were... (in order first to last)

08 orange Yaris RS (which I was going to turbo off the lot)
05 WR blue STi
08 Saturn Astra
97 Probe GTS

The MS3 honestly wasn't even on the list. I went to the Toyota dealer and would have been a 3-4 month wait on the Yaris I wanted (I was adamant on manual and orange and RS model), and I almost went to Ottawa to look at the 05 Sti for $25k with 80,000kms. Couldn't get my dad to let my mom drive me there just to look. I ended up wanting to go back to Scarborough Toyota to take the manual black RS for a test drive they had on lot and decided to pop by Mazda first. Looked in the window of the MS3 I ended up buying, and before I knew it I was ushered in the dealership and signing papers. I haven't looked back since.

Next car on the list was a used Acura RSX.

Knowing what I know now though, I wish I'd bought a used truck/small SUV and an NA Miata. Ah well, live and learn.

Probably the Toyota Corolla Sport even though it doesn't drive as well and doesn't have independent rear suspension.
