so wats happening with this?
Where/when is this officially looking to go down?
Wes (Perma), Ami (SFW), and I have been working up some planning on this at the meets
when the time is right we will give out info
expect july/august somewhere

Well it's already August and I'd really like to see this event happen.
We could plan a drive up to Sybald's point, or another provincial park where we can all park our cars and have a BBQ. There are only a few weekends left and right now August 25 looks good, not to far and not to close to plan something.
Want to work on your car but not sure how, send me a PM. Learn the way of Nator.
Excited times for TM3 & TOP.

did anything ever arise from this?
This would be a really great event, if it can happen this year. Because as you may have noticed, last years MOM was a flop, lets get something planned and make it big!!
I was just wondering if TM3 has ever re-considered an official track day
We have a lot of sponsors that could help cover partial costs along with members entrance / participation fees

A few years back I remember total costs to rent the facility, work out to just under $5000 (which included insurance and all the mumbo jumbo)
Obviously, this meet would be for next season.
I think if TM3 worked with TOP - this would be a great substitute to MOM (with most likely a better turnout)

MoM was never meant as a track event. It is meant more as a social event, for members, and their families. I highly doubt a track event would bring out more members. Several years ago, MoM was run at Cayuga, and the turnout was very poor.
With respect to the idea of renting the track for the day. The full track rental is ~ $5000 for a weekend(turnout on a weekday would likely be poor). We do have sponsors that could help, but the cost is still very high. There are many organizations running track days/events, and I am not confident that TM3 as a club should be involved in organizing track days.
That said, I will table the idea for discussion at an upcoming admin/moderator meeting .
Fair enough.
I just figured a track event dubbed "Meeting of the Mazdas", could ultimately bring more participants than the current MOM BBQ's. Including not just 3's and P5's, but also RX8, Miatas, etc
But it is what it is.
I still like the idea of the family oriented MOM BBQ, but isn't that what the annual BubbaQ's are?
edit - 5G's is a lot of money to raise though. LOL
Im with you on this Eric, I think it would be pretty fun. Track and BBQ would be awesome, and there can still be a show and shine.
im sure people would enjoy spectating track runs. I think it could bring a bigger crowd as well.
5k is big though, but i think this should seriously be considered. With the help from sponsors and entrance fees, i think its plausible

Back in '06, '07, MoM DID bring out RX8s, Miatas etc. Granted I only attended once in '06 I think, but at that point the hosting was rotating among 3-4 different model-based clubs and there was pretty strong participation from each group regardless of who was organizing it. Not sure how the participation of the different clubs is these days.
^^ I went to MoM 2010
2 dozen Mazda 3, dozen or so P5's, 6 Miatas, and a handful of 6's, Rx7/8's
weather was lousy which probably played a huge part in the turnout.
But from what I remember - for a family event - I remember only seeing about a dozen kids (if that)
i like the idea of a track day, but 5gs is alot...
