So I'm picking up a new Mazda 3 Sport and the dealer asked if I want rustproofing done for 900. Is it worth it or is it a waste of money???

I'd definitely take it to Krown as opposed to paying that much for the work.
Check the sponsers page.

P.S. Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, 'The Light at the End of the Tunnel' has been turned off.
they are just going to take it to Krown and pay them $100 bucks then charge you the 900

$900 ... total rip off! But if you must do it at the dealership, then offer $300 max ... no more, IMO. Otherwise, you know the saying ... A Sucker is born every minute
$900 is about 8-9 years of Krown if you do it on your own. If you think you're gonna keep the car for more than 9 years + you learn that they're using good shit, then do it. But I wouldn't. Krown FTW.

$900 is too much. When I bought my car I had sound and rust proofing (black rubberized stuff) thrown in at a discount as part of the deal. IIRC, it was under $500 for both. I have to say that the rubberized stuff is really good so far. As others have said though, you need to be mindful of your obligations to maintain your warranty.
Is not here
Wow...$900....wow! Please don't do that.

Krown did a great job when I last went.
It came out to just over $ 100 with tax.
i'm going for my first krown later today.
$900 for rustproofing??? I guess times are tough at that dealer.....that's a way too high. Just make sure they don't try and charge you money to scotch gaurd the floormats!
Krown, as said by everyone else, is cheaper and just as good. Plus dont get the rust proofing in the spring, wait until November.
I have an 07 with 90k and I have never rust proofed, I just wash my car once a week in the winter at Esso with the undercarriage sprays, and my undercarriage is nice and clean. My little 323 is rust proofed, and I do it every 2 years at Krown.

Toupe is the new black!!
Rust proofing is NEVER worth it, regardless of price.
I pick my car up on Wednesday from Scarboro Mazda, Rustproofing thru them was about $450 and it's a lifetime warranty. I've had previous cars down at Krown and my fiancé swears by them.. I just don't like the black goop dripping from my car for a week.
$900???? What dealer is it, that's insane!
Sounds like a lifetime warranty approved rustproofing, I could be wrong though. If it is then get it it will save you on long run if you plan to sell it within few years, otherwise its a waste of money.
Is this price just for the rust proofing or is there paint protection as well (I assume rust proofing includes some form of undercoating)? That sounds like the price for both.
One of the sales agent at a Mazda dealership said that getting the car rust proofed at Krown, etc would void the warranty. Is that true??
900? That's cheap compared to what Ajax Mazda tried to shove down my throat when i bought my 09 sedan. They tried to justify charging me 1200 bucks for it and i laughed.
what the bloody hell!!
900 bucks for rust proofing!!!![]()
beLEAF
they are charging for the life time warranty, not the rust proofing
$900? Krown it and don't look back. You can't just put a one-time application of rust-proof and expect it to last for the life of the car. For $900, you can have your car Krown-ed for like 8 years.
