I took my car for its second service, just an oil change.
Once it was completed they handed me the bill and I looked it over to make sure there were no errors. To my great surprise, I see that the dealer had used 5W-20 conventional oil in my 2011 Mazda 3 GT.
I quickly pointed this out and and he said, "OH, yah that is just an error from the parts department as they selected the wrong oil from the list."
I asked if he can PROVE to me that the technician did not use 5W-20 and actually used 0W-20 synthetic.
He said, you will just have to trust me. So after 45 minutes of going back and forth and arguing, I refused to pay the price of a synthetic oil change and he then only charged me for a regular change all while making fun of me in the process.
I called the service manager after since he was in a meeting while I was there and he told me the following:
"The parts department writes up the bill and the technician working on your car will never see this receipt. The tech only goes by what the computer generates for them as the oil pumps from a barrel and is measured by a computer. The tech will see that it is just an oil change and will enter the information in the system that it is a Mazda 3, 2.5 liter engine etc...so it is impossible they put the wrong oil. They do not go by what is on that paper. Only what THEIR computer says which would be the 0W-20"
To the dealerships on this forum......what is the actual process. Do the techs look at the printout that the service advisor gives or the parts department gives? What is the process?
In the end, I may or may not have 0W-20 in my car and I may or may not have 5W-20.......would this cause any issue? How would you react in this case??
***Btw the service advisor GIANNI (who is a dickhead) said he worked for BMW for many years and they NEVER USE SYNTHETIC since the cars are turbo'd. He tells me turbos cannot use synthetic oils........What a ****ing moron!!!
