How long will you guys keep your car?

I got a 2010 GT Hatchback, with almost 120 000 km and since the car lost a lot of value due to high milleage I am thinking about keeping it atleast another 4-5 years or if something big dies on me (transmission,engine).

What about you guys? what year is your car and how long will you keep it?

I bought my 05 Mazda3 in 2009 and kept it for 3 years, which is the longest I've ever owned a car.

All other vehicles I only kept for a year (or 2 at most) before I got bored and sold them.

Now with my new GMC - I'm keeping it for 7 years and my Lancer for at least another 3 years (which is when my financing is up on them)

Cars are the worst investment possible - so I don't really worry about ROI and re-selling and what not, like other people do.

Planning on pretty much running it until it dies....(has a Mazda 3 ever reached 1,000,000 km?? Lol...wish I could do that) ....or until I somehow get the need for a larger car....although that won't happen for at least another 5-7 years...

Planning to keep it another 2, maybe 3 years. Hopefully trade it in for a 2014-2015....hoping for a CX5 diesel.

Had mine 7.5 years now and at 190k. I 'plan' on keeping her atleast another 9 years. As far as she doesn't get written-off by some smuck on the road, I don't see not making it either. Regular and pro-active maintenance should carry her through. It makes financial sense also.

Im planning to keep my 2011 Mazda3 for 10 years, after that Im sure ill be very bored and longing for something new and different. I kept my Protege5 for 10 years but got really bored with it after such a long time, the car itself was great with no rust anywhere and 170k km on it. The hard suspension and noisy highway ride became very annoying then I knew It was time for something new.

I'm at 175k now, she's starting to really show her age. I'll sell her when Average monthly maintenance exceeds 250 dollars a month over a 12 month span, because at that point, (insurance aside) it'd be cheaper to run a new Jetta TDI

For the Record, in the last 12 months, I've done only oil changes tires, a a set of pads/rotors, so if the engine blows tomorrow... I'd probably just replace the engine.

Previous car was 2004 Sienna, with 240k on. No problem at all except I had to downsize the car...
Now, with one month old Mazda3... with 1.8k on her... I want to switch to manual...

07 GT here. I kinda want to learn to drive stick....considering getting a civic si right now. Or maybe a TSX if I can find one for cheap. A gen coupe would be nice but I can't find one in my price range, although maybe I should learn to drive manual before getting a genesis coupe lol

I've only got a couple of friends that drive stick - one lives downtown, and the other works 2 jobs + school so I'd be kind of a jerk to ask haha. Plus I was taught once for half an hour , but it didn't stick since I don't own a stick car. I could take a course though

07 hatch with 82K on it. I plan on driving it until i hit 300k then sell it. I just bought a saab aero as a toy car for next to nothing so that will be getting all the mileage.

When the repair expenses get too high. Or I get bored of it which I am not. It's a great car. I hope to keep it for another 5 years or so.
