What are peoples opinions on the "24,000 km check up" on the car?
I have to go in for mine tomorrow but realistically it just seems like a waste of money... it's $200!!!
Anyone notice a difference after getting it done?

The biggest part of it is the brake service which needs to be done at that interval to keep the braking system from seizing up and prematurely wearing.

- 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 Black Mica - SOLD -
this, and also to keep the calipers serviced keeps them covered under warranty, and is advised to do every year or 24,000. if you were not to do it and the caliper did seize. the OEM calipers rest around $500 aftermarket about $250. + install, bleed and hst and so on, so the preventative maintenance is cheaper in the long run when looking at replacement costs.
Get it done at Highline motors they are located in oakville and last time I checked they had a mazda guy doing all the servicing too. Prolly save up a lot by going to them.
Thanks everyone!
I was afraid of the warranty thing... I figured if I didn't get this check up done it would somehow void my warranty and kick me in the ass later for it LOL!
Guess I don't feel as bad spending that kind of money on it nowSounds much better than fixing it later!
Sam
Warranty is still covered as long as you have proof that you did the services. It can be done anywhere with a certified mechanic, if you don't mind spending more for the dealership then go for it but you're not getting anything special by going there (you should still have to keep your own records).
this is right from the service price quide by mazda. generally it is pretty close. only difference usually is parts depending on area, and its quoted with gst and pst.. not hst

I think with Skyactiv you need the dealership to do all the servicing. The engine incorporates some new technologies that Im sure most mechanics out there are not trained for. Mazda techs are well trained in this new technology ,they would spot and correct any problems.
True, I thought it was just a high compression engine with some fine tuning on it. Guess the money you save on gas goes toward the services lol...
Amazing! Thanks!! Where did you find this? haha i'm so new to cars... All i know is that I love my Mazda
I just got an oil change done last weekend (Didn't want to do them all together... too much $$ at one time LOL) So i called them and they told me it would be $2XX minus the price of the oil change... Still going to be roughly 200...
I think the next post is right.. I don't want to bring my car to a "garage" to do anything... I know I can trust the dealer ship to be careful with the car and not get oil and stuff everywhere LOL and the new skyactiv engine isn't known very well I bet.. lol

Thanks again guys!!
where did i find the service price?
Personally I would be the first person in the world to tell you not to bother with these massive services because I think they are a waste. However because of my "great" history with mazda (3 cars all owned since new) 1st one did everything on my own had reciepts and warranty was not honoured, 2nd did dealer oil changes and skipped out on the massive services got some warranty but when it got tough I was left with a large repair bill, 3rd one which I am currently driving did everything through the dealer and so far knock on wood it seems to be treating me better.
I say just do it this way their is no BS.
Keep in mind I am a tech and have a hard time swallowing the fact that I have to pay someone to do work on my own car just so I can keep my warranty going
1991 Nissan Pathfinder - trade in, 2005 Mazda 3 GX ty grey - Write off, 2010 Mazda 3 GT E sedan CWP- trade in, 2010 Speed 3 w/tech CWP - Up for sale (soon), 2007 Mazda 3 GS silver- motor swapped in to 2009 MS3 CWP that had blown engine, 2002 BMW 330ci silver- new winter ride, 2005 BMW M3- new toy

All I'll say is make sure they perform operation 2L; lubricate all hinges, door locks, latches etc. This operation is often overlooked and is important. Of course one can do it easily themselfs, periodically, with the purchase of a good lubricant.

Just had mine done last week at Budd's. I definitely recommend it to make sure you won't have any warranty issues down the road. Worth the $200 or so dollars for the peace of mind.
1999 Honda Civic SiR | Bolt-ons
2010 Mazdaspeed3 | Cobb AP | Corksport SRI+TIP | Autotech HPFP | Magnaflow CBE
got mine done over the weekend - it ended up being $150 because I had my oil change done the weekend prior...
Computer was done for the 2012 sky recall, though. I have to go back next weekend... again...
and apparently there is something wrong with my window - it's not shutting "nicely" ... this will be the third weekend in a row!!![]()
