If there are any graduates from U of T or Queens, I highly suggest you speak with Meloche Monnex through TD Canada trust. They offer ridiculous discounts to grads. There may be other schools but those are the two that pertained to my wife and I.

Yeah Queens grads get a killer discount. And you actually get their best rate if you are an EIT with Professional Engineers Ontario. This first few months of saving alone paid for the cost of joining as an EIT.

Got my renewal. Insurance dropped $220/yr

Me: (turning 25), G license, 1 minor ticket, group rate with Professional Engineers of Ontario
Car: 2008 Mazda3 Sport GT
Company: TD Meloche Monnex
Deductables: $500/$1000
Additional: GT coverage, accident forgiveness
Annual Price: $2300/yr

Not totally happy, but I figure it will go down quite a bit once the ticket comes off.

Added a multi-line discount, now i'm at $177.50/month ($2130/yr).

Not totally happy with this. I went with The Personal because the rest of my parents have their vehicles insured with them, and I thought I was getting a pretty good rate anyways, because some of the other quotes I got back were $3500/yr.

Found out about Meloche Mennox a few months into my policy, and they quoted me much lower, around $2500/yr, so I'll be switching over to them once my policy expires with them.

State Farm's computer system "misquoted my region" and instead of the 252/mo i was originally quoted on the phone, the bill came and it was 408/mo. I was nottttt happy. They were really good about apologizing and getting on top of fixing it. I'm waiting for my refund cheque in the mail. However, it's too expensive anyways, so I cancelled SF and was turned onto TD MM Insurance instead.

228/mo full coverage, a bunch of extras blah blah, clean record, ua local 853 discount and so forth.

A bit of a hassle, but in the end I'm saving a bunch of money. $2736/year w/ TD compared to $4896 with SF.

As much as doing research sucks and seems to take forever, do it, it's worth it for the money you save.

be happy keep your clean record and that will be good. I have 2 accidents on my record only one my fault and I think one small ticket. and I am paying 201 a month for my Mazda 3...BUT!! I am under my parents insurance as an occasional driver even though the car is 100% mine I had to put the ownership under my parents so that I could be insured under their policy...if I wasn't under my parents...I would be paying more like 500 someodd a month
