Default Has anybody tried to wrap the dash?

I saw a lot of luxury sports cars with the top dash wrapped in leather. I was wondering of anybody tried to bring that to the Mazda 3. Would it be possible? If so it'll be really nice IMO. I'm gonna give it a shot. I'll post pics here to show progress

Wood grain would look super cool. I'm going for the sleek black luxury car look though. So black leather is what id get. It would be cool to get quilted leather or something like that! I'm gonna go to my local fabric store today and check out what's possible to get.

you will need to take it to a professional. they will remove the dash for the best results. the only problem i see its that our dash is rough at some places so itll make it difficult for the rap to stick properly. then you got the sun, UV, heat and cold. our dash expends and shrinks quiet a bit. as my center dash is "stick bombed". the sticker leyer will buckle when cold but will smooth right out when the dash is warm or hot.

I wish it came fully black inside, that'd be nice.

pillars are really easy to do. already platidipped mine. i have a friend that did the head liner of his mustang black, was gonna do the same to mine when i have time this summer.

as for the dash, it can be done. if you go on the redline goods facebook page, they have done a miata and a few other cars along with whole doors, sun visors and many other things.

My a-pillars are wrapped in black vinyl. I dig it.

Yes I wish the inner roof was black. That beige is ugly and gets dirty and is near impossible to clean properly.

My headliner is done black aswell as my pillers, so that makes me happy however the plastic in our cars just feels so cheap compared to their german counterparts lol SOOO I figured wrapping it would make it feel a bit more luxury

2010+ dash is made out of a much nicer material. Often with the dashboard you'll have to see different pieces of fabric together to properly eliminate wrinkles.

Did the side airbag go off when you removed it? Do you just pull a fuse?

EDIT: that sounded dumb. How did you get the airbag on the a pillar off without the airbag going off?

Having have pulled off a few hundred A Pillars in the last year, I would recommend disconnecting the battery and draining power before doing any work around them if you are unsure.

They don't generally go off from removing the plastic A-Pillar cover but I am sure it could be possible. Be careful, air bags explode with a lot of force and can seriously injure you or someone else.

I don't think I personally have disconnected power to remove an A-pillar cover BUT I recommend that others do.

The cover and the airbag are two separate pieces. The cover comes off and the airbag stays attached to the actual A-pillar.
I'm not sure if I am explaining that right but as soon as you attempt it, you'll see what I mean.

I've painted my A,B & C's pillars, it's really easy. Very little chance of doing anything with the air bags, but it couldn't hurt to disconnect the battery.
Modifications? I've forgotten more than I remember. Click here for the list.
