oh man, sorry for the HUGE pic!!! any way to edit?
im curious to see if i can at least work out something with the illumination, I don't really like how it looks with a pocket up there.
I'm putting a small blue led in the pocket cause mine is a 2004 so no light or anything either... wish I could do something more. I was thinking a small rectangular clock that I could stick on would be great if it was like a soft neon... but I don't know if that exists...
I drive the same year as you, and found how to illuminate the stock LCD with the eonon unit
There is a black and red wire on the LCD harness. What I did was ground the black and attached the red wire to a switched 12v source. I used the cigarette lighter wires and tapped into there
Better than nothing and real easy to do!
It's here!... won't install until Friday so I will update then!!...

Wow-wee! Can't wait to see it! You got it pretty quick!
If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 MPG - Bill Gates
I did, pretty impressed with that. 4 business days to be exact. Kinda ticked off that I had to pay $44 tax/duties but oh well... connecting everything makes me think that tucking all this is gonna be "fun".

How did the install go? Did you do what vip3r87 suggested to get your LCD to work?
I havent installed it yet but I did test it out. Radio works as advertised, fully digital and different options for tuning (DX - LOC). Steering wheel controls work without modifying anything. iPod interface is awesome and was able to browse my playlists, artists, songs, etc and played without a hitch. Bluetooth works flawless, we paired up mine and my gf iPhone 5 (keep in mind that only 1 at a time can be paired) and they worked just fine... Since the mic is on the unit you may have to speak up a bit. GPS was able to find me in a matter of seconds and it's features are plenty. The amber/red colour matches the rest of the dash perfectly. I will install it fully tmrw, take plenty of pics and give further details, I've also pm'd vip3r87 about wiring the LCD because for the life of me I cant figure out which is power and ground from that harness, so I asked him what wires he tapped into.
I think I'm more anxious about this install than you are![]()
might as well post this little gem in case anyone ever needs it.

Here it is, my full detailed review and installation process of the Eonon D5151 - it was an awesome day out so I figured might as well take my time and enjoy the weather while I'm at it. I will post pics with descriptions and let the pics speak for themselves as well and provide my opinion of the unit at the end. So without further a due, i give to you.... a $hi7 load of pics:
First and foremost was trying to figure out a way to illuminate the LCD screen above the HU as us 04-05 Non CAN-BUS owners have no way of keeping it. Those of you that do have the can-bus system will retain it fully and it will display the proper mode you are in as well such as radio, navi sys, etc. So here is the LCD wiring that connects to the back of the HU
After some research and tips from Vip3r87 I figured out which wires to tap into
Testing it - LCD OFF
Testing it - LCD ON
So after this I headed outside and pretty much dismantled the entire centre console
Next came figuring where to tap into to illuminate the LCD. Several of you suggested that I do it through the cig. lighter but i figured that since I only wanted the LCD on when I turn on the lights, I tap into the cig. lighter "light". Here's a pic testing it out:
And since it worked, cleaned it up afterwards
Next came the GPS antenna placement, pretty much an obvious choice:
Here we are test fitting and making sure things are going as planned
Now it was time for the iPod cable. I pondered the thought of drilling a hole into the side of the glovebox but decided against it and routed the cable through the ashtray pocket instead. I removed the bulb holder, the bulb itself and the ashtray and fed the cable like this - and an iPod touch fits in nicely
Now lets turn on this bad boy before we start slapping things together
Since that went well here it is pushed in with the wires at the back tucked - not as easy since its a lot of wires and cables. At the bottom you can see the iPod cable
All put back together - huge sigh of relief lol
Now onto the features. First the radio - works perfect, sounds awesome, reception is fine.... what else do you need? - You can change the colours of the unit for a total of 8 colours. I like the stock look
Next up, BlueTooth. Received a phone call through the unit and was able to hear the other person clearly and vice versa
Alright, GPS. Was able to find me fine and figure out a route in a matter of seconds, very impressive actually. There are several functions you can personalize in the menu, here is an example - since I need to head to lockdown tomorrow morning I asked for the quickest route without highways
Next up is the iPod. The pic speaks for itself. Works perfect, I can control it through the steering wheel (just like all the rest of the other modes) and does pretty much whatever you tell it to through the screen
So far so good, so the last thing to test - which should've been the first. Was that the LCD still worked as I intended it to and voila
All set:
In conclusion I'm very impressed with the unit. The sound quality is very good and better than the stock one. For all the features and the price there really is no comparison when it comes to keeping it as close to stock looks-wise. I'm very happy with the purchase. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks again to everyone!.
I forgot to mention that a TM3 decal will be going over that LCD just like the one on your top left corner at the moment.![]()
Wow, I had seen pictures of the first version, including the interface and everything, and let me tell you that I wasn't impressed. But after seeing all of this, I can definately say that I found my head unit ! Thanks alot !
If I may ask you, would you be able to give maybe a list of pros and cons after using the unit for a couple days ? Would be much appreciated !
@Vip3r87 - I've only seen the 5102 in pics and videos but just the interface alone would make me want to switch. As for the technical side of things, the upgraded processor definitely makes things transition smoothly... no lag and pretty quick.
@Simon99 - Will do, I'll provide an update after a week of usage.
Here's a night time pic

Looks really nice! By chance, you planning on having subs or back up cams installed? I was reading on the Eonon site that you have Sub control and wanna know how that is. But it looks really really nice! Would it be possible to put up a vid to see it all in action?
Yea it really does look awesome. I don't plan on putting subs ATM. For now the sound the unit reproduces gives me just the right amount of bass... Who know what'll happen later. Hence I can't really comment about the sub ctrl but I know several members over at M3F have done it without probs, but others have so I don't really know without actually doing it myself. As for a vid. I'll make one once I've mastered this things features cuz if I make one know it'll be a mess of button pushing and touch screen scrolling lol.
