Default pics -Ottawa meet July 29 (beware 56k)

I guess all the Toronto guys are still in Ottawa. They are racing now. I came back to Montreal cuz I\'m just too tired. So I\'ll post some of my pics. I don\'t remember all the names of the poeple from the TO club, but it was nice meeting all of them!!!

Us Quebec people stopped at Taco Bell before joining the meet. we don\'t have any in Quebec!

Little cruise across Ottawa, direction Gatineau!

Stopping to wait for others. Not easy to organise a 30+ cars convoy.

    Gatineau, little photoshoot.

Wanna know how\'s it\'s like having 30 mazdas following you?

no prob. Weather wasn\'t that bad. It was hot and sunny for most part of the day... and then the rain came down briefly.

I think there were 6 or 7 cars from Toronto Mazda3... Could be more though cuz there\'s no way for me to know who\'s who between u guys and the Ottawa club... Quebec is easy cuz we don\'t have a plate up front

    Nice Pics roge.

I mentioned to Broli (and I think in the original thread) about Gatineau Park to do a cruise. It\'s really nice - especially in the fall when the leave all change colour.

Would have been nice to have gone (had other obligations this weekend )

15.7 at the 1/4 mile I think... versus 15.8 for another 3 without the hiboost.
but I\'m sure the guy will do much better once he gets other mods on his car and once his setup is tune correctly.

One of the Quebec guy with the turbo in his trunk. He didn\'t have time to finish the install.

    O-team: didn\'t know. thanks.

I don\'t get it... the turbo 3 only went 1/10th of a sec. faster than a stock 3? How much boost was he running, and what other mods did he have? Seems like a waste of $4000 US for only 1/10th of a sec.

no the other 3 wasn\'t stock: headers, catback, flywheel etc...basically everything else other than a hiboost. But the guy with the hiboost was running at 7psi and don\'t have any other mods (everything OEM, sleeper style)), it\'s also an automatic. His hiboost is not perfectly tune yet so apparently he wasn\'t pushing it.

Btw, are most of your 3\'s automatic? Or it\'s only the automatics that came to the meet? hehe

Ah ok I get it. I knew I was missing something... I was going to say... if he has a turbo and it only goes 1/10th faster than a stock 3, either he got ripped off, or his turbo kit is crap! So he\'s running at a half bar (7psi), would be cool to see how fast it could go through the traps at a full bar (14psi). Of course, he\'d need to do some engine/suspension work in order for it to handle that kind of power.

    Very cool though.

My 3 is a manual. We have 1 or 2 guys with auto, but most of our guys have 5spds.

From what I\'ve seen. I would say it\'s a split. Half the people have auto\'s while half have manual.

    Btw.. nice pics.

Chuckie\'s right - it\'s basically a 50/50 splits (at least based on those that did this poll)

Yeah, as mentioned by Roge, Jon (boosted 3) is running a 2.0L automatic. Last fall his best 1/4 mile times were (I believe) around 16.9.

This was his first time back at the track since the turbo kit, and 15.7 wasn\'t half bad.
Other than a pro-kit, I believe performance-wise, he\'s bone stock. Still stock exhaust, not yet dyno-tuned etc. Stock Toyo 15\'s.

He\'s also having a lot of issues w/ the auto-tranny shifts. It really doesn\'t like the added power, and he has to lift in order to get it to shift.

W/ some more mods (exhaust, tires etc) and sorting out the tranny issue, he\'ll drop LOTS more time off that 1/4 mile, even still @ 7psi.

I was matching Jon\'s times w/ my 2.3L manual, w/ AEM CAI, Magnaflow catback & TWM SS. Jon\'s & my best times last night were within 1/10 sec of each other. It made for a good match-up.... for now. Once he gets the issues sorted out, I\'m toast.

Thanks to all the TM3 people who made the trip. Helped to get us a real good sized crowd, and make the meet very successful. It was a blast having you guys around on Friday night and Sat. We\'ll have to do another meet next year.

15.7 is not bad for turbo and everything else stock. Has he thought about maybe switching out the auto tranny for a stick? I am not planning to run a turbo (well at least I don\'t plan to right now) but if I plan to, I\'m pretty much setup for it, transmission-wise. The auto tranny on these cars are good, but I don\'t know if they can handle that much power. Who knows, maybe it can.

What\'s your 1/4 mile time? I\'m running the same mods as you (only difference is, I\'m running a Mazdaspeed CAI), so I\'m curious to find out. I haven\'t run my car down a track yet, so I don\'t know where I sit.

The meet was great. Too bad I didn\'t really get a chance to talk/meet with all of you.

Maybe I\'ll come down to TO in Sept with Microdude and go to one of the TO meet.

But we definitely have to do this again.

Well if you want to compare, your guy\'s best time was 15.7 with all those mods, while Gimpy also did a 15.7 with just an intake and exhaust, so really the header, flywheel etc is just a waste of money :p

Also, like Gimpy mentioned, the turbo is on a 2.0 and not a 2.3
