    Default Carwash - season pass?

Couldn't find the topic for this (even though I'd imagine there is one somewhere around here), but as a new driver with a new car - I am hoping to keep it nice looking for as long as I can (at least for as long as its financed...)

I was looking at investing into a PetroCanada season pass.

GlideTM Season Pass: $189 Cdn for 90 days
SuperWorksTM Season Pass: $169 for 90 days

I am just not sure if it is worth it. Washing the car once a day - shiny car daily. On the other hand, it is summer and my car doesn't get all that visibly dirty (pearl white) so weekly car wash would suffice ($15/week * 12 weeks = $180).

    Anyone can recommend from experience?

Find someone in your area to share the pass with..
In the summer, take the time and hand wash the car weekly.

Get a few members to go in with you. Not exactly sure how that works but members have done it a few times on here.

Edit. S.F.W beat me to it.

Too expensive for summer. Wash it by hand yourself once a week. If you don't have a driveway search on Youtube the Garry Dean method of washing. If you have a driveway use the 2 bucket method.

not sure what it's like elsewhere, but all of the petro canada's within a good 25 minute driving radius from me are oldschool full-touch washes that are just going to put swirls in your paint, especially if you're going multiple times a week. I'd steer clear if I were you.

Shame that Esso doesnt offer a pass like that....I'd be more interested in a daily touchless wash than one with those nasty filthy bristles

Is washing by hand preferred over the car wash? Right now I usually go through a car wash and if there is a spot left, I always have a spray bottle with water and some microfiber wipes to go over it. I don't think I am prepared to spend $100+ on GDWM just yet, even though it does seem perfect for people who live in apartment buildings (like myself).

You don't need to buy the $100 kit. Just the method. Buy some ONR Optimum No Rinse or a similar no rinse from Walmart or CT and use the same method. The microfibre towels are on sale at CT now.

Touchless car washes are better than the others. The touch washes will leave swirls on your paint.

Fair enough. I got the bucket, I got the microfiber cloths. I guess the only thing I am lacking is distilled water and the ONR? Might stop by CT and ask around for what to get, since my knowledge of this is 0, heh.

I also just read the PSA coin-op carwash thread and about not using the brush - glad I didn't when I first went. It looked sketchy - didn't want it anywhere near my car.

I went halves on one with a colleague. We return all our media vehicles washed and gassed up so it saves a ton of money (3-4 cars per week) and we use the spare days on our personal cars.

    The Toys:
Aston Martin V8 Vantage 6MT - Tungsten Silver
    Honda S2000 (AP2) - Rio Yellow
Toyota Camry AllTrac 4WD - Silver Metallic
Daily: Lexus LS 430 Ultra Luxury - Brilliant Black

Distilled water isn't necessary to get good results. You're all set. Just think about a clay and sealant or wax a couple of times a year and you're good.
