Hi,
I recently purchased my Mazda 3 2010 GX sedan model from a Mazda Dealer. Unfortunately, the car only came with one key and the dealer told me that I could have additional key for free if I go with financing. I initially told the finance officer that I will go with financing but later on told him I changed my mind (I didn't sign any load documents yet). When I backed out, he told me I have to pay for the key. He told me he already made me a switchblade key and programmed it with remote/keyless entry and asked me to pay 250 bucks for it. I didn't want to pay for it as the salesperson (different person) initially told be it was only 150 bucks if I pay for they switchblade key separately. Anyways, I gave in decided to pay for 150 bucks (expecting that I will be getting the switchblade key). When I went to pick up the car, the salesperson apologized and told me the car didn't come with a keyless entry system. I was pissed since they told me when I was finalizing the deal that they have already cut and programmed a switchblade key for me and I paid 150 bucks for it. I guess they lied. As a compromise, they decided to install a keyless entry system to the car for free (since it was their fault in the first place telling me the car has keyless entry). He told me that I was still getting the switchblade key with remote. So, I sent back the car for them to install it. When I picked up the car again, I was disappointed since they installed a cheap after market key (Audiovox AA925). I'm quite disappointed coz I was expecting a switchblade key. He told me that the switchblade key is not possible to install. I doubt it so I went and did my research.
Anyhow, as I was browsing through the forums, it seems that for a 2010 GX model, adding an OEM keyless entry (switchblade key with remote) is not possible, am I correct? Is aftermarket keyless entry my only option for this model?
