Wanted to get some off topic advice. I bought my dad a brand new laptop on Sunday and just now, upon starting it up, an error message popped up saying that there's a hard disk problem and referenced the code 301. It warns of an imminent hard drive failure.
Anyone know what the issue is and if the hard drive is actually gonna fail?
I won't have time to take it back to Future Shop yet, but does anyone know if it would be possible to take it back and exchange it for a different laptop? Is there a time limit that I have to do this? I really don't wanna keep the laptop at this point nor do I wanna use HP's warranty to get the hard drive replaced. We've only had it for about a day so if the hard drive is already failing, I can't imagine what else is gonna fail. This was supposed to be a laptop that he could keep for a long time![]()
