    Default Genwon leather seat install

    Hi everyone,

I'm planning on picking up some OEM leather seats (2008) to add to my 2005 sedan. I'm just wondering if it would be possible to get the heated seats working since my car doesn't have a switch for them. I'm not sure if the switches are included in the deal, I should probably ask.

Has anyone done this before? I've tried searching but I've only come across threads about aftermarket leather/heating kits.

    Thanks!

If you get the switches and a piece of the harness it can and has been done.

Thanks for the reply. I'll shoot him an email about the switches, could you go into a little bit more detail about what I need from the harness? Thanks!

Just need the ashtray area with the 2 switches that have a couple inches of wire attached to them.

Alright, I just contracted the seller and he said he would have it all ready.

Since I have the GT, would my car already be wired for this? Or am I going to need to run wires from the switch to the seats?

Thanks for the reply. I think I'm a little over my head with the wiring. I'm gonna go pick up the seats today and at the very least I can install the seats. The heated seats aren't a big deal since (hopefully) the weather will continue to get warmer. If anyone has any further insights or knows where I could get some help with this, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the advice, I've tried searching for him but I can't find that username

I've got the seats installed, and I've kept the switches for them. Unfortunately, the passenger airbag lights are coming on on my car.

I do still have the harnesses that the seats came with, is there anyone else on the forum that would be able to help with this sort of thing? I really don't care about the heated seats right now, but the passenger airbag light is worrisome.

    Thanks for all the help.

False alarm. I just had a lightbulb moment and went to sit in my passenger seat. Once I sat down, the light went off.

Pretty neat, I'm just confused because my old seats didn't do that.

Odd, because the light should only come on when there is a small load on the seat.

I'm not sure. I've never seen the passenger airbag light on with the old seats, even with my backpack stored on it.

If the light stays off when someone is in the seat, the airbag should be fine though, right?

Yes, when there is a light load (a child) it will sensor and the airbag will not trip.

I think the wiring harness might have changed. I'll have to take a look.

I got the seats for $300 on Kijiji from some guy parting out an old car. They're quite a bit more than that, I guess I got lucky.

I've noticed that my airbag light on the dash stays on, and my seatbelt sensors don't seem to be working either.
If anyone knows anything about what's changed, please point me in the right direction.

make sure your seat harness is plugged in all the way. when i pulled my seat out to install my amp, i thought i clipped the wire harness underneath ok, but it wasn't in far enough so it was all wonky.

Thanks. I did try reconnecting it and it didn't seem to help. I guess the harness changed slightly in 2007 or there's a difference between leather and cloth.

I thought about that, but most of them do look like they match up don't they? The black/white match up (I'm assuming that's power and ground?), the red/white and the one above it seem to match up as well.

My car seems to have a black/blue and green/blue set near the top and the seat harness has a pink/black in a different spot from the looks of it. Anyone know what this means?

The pink one as I remember has to do with power for the seat warmers. I have a bunch of diagrams at home, will post those later today

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out what's going wrong. I'm really worried my airbag may not deploy.
