Default Windows Vista Talk

I just upgraded to Vista RC1 from Beta 2.

RC1 works flawless. Everything works (keep in mind I don't play games, just photoshop and graphic prog's). [s]Faster[/s]. Not faster!!! Looks better. I love the gadgets that work like mac's.

You can download the Customer Beta files from Microsoft.com. No charge. I ordered the dvd's ($15) and every update that comes out they mail me new install dvd's until vista is released for sale. Full version of vista.

Here is a picture.

I'll stick with my Powerbook and Windows XP machine for awhile longer.
At least MS did a better job of copying Apple this time.
It's good that they're taking from each other, though.

Yes... You need it! Plus it is a free download to test. I haven't had 1 problem with RC1 yet. If you decide to try you want this link http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx but it is still in beta mode so it could give you problems.

Ya... Some issues still. I read http://www.winsupersite.com/vista/ this guy knows everything and has a really good review section. It may help you out.

I did a complete format and re-install. I format every 3 or 4 months when my computer slows down. It only takes a few hours to backup format & reinstall. A few hours is nothing vs. a slow computer all the time...

Next meet I will give you my 64 bit disk from microsoft if it is still messing up. I had the 64 bit installed but it is a bugger my ati tv tuner card wouldn't work... you'll see. So I put on the 32 bit. Microsoft sent me 1 of each. You can have the 64 bit disk...

Well, I thought that the reason was my memory being only 256MB (which I was thinking on upgrade since long time ago) b/c in the requirments says that it needs a minimun of 512 of RAM to work so I bought a 1 Gg RAM, installed today and still got the same message, Xenon told me it was b/c my computer wasn't Vista Ready b/c it has a Celeron procesor and not a Pentium.

Now I don't know what to do next.

take back the memory.. if you can.. if you can't well just chalk that up to a new PC builing experience and get all new parts.. no point of 'updating' the old shit (that is if you *want* to run vista with all the bells and whistles..

i just put a PC together for about 1500 bux.. tax in.. i was able to reuse a few components so that went down to 1200 or so.. anyway.. what's your budget

rmemeber the $ u spend on a PC that $ u don't have for car mods

jajaja, I know, I like computers stuff but thats why I don't spend money on them, prefer the car and about the memory I'm not regretting buy it, I was needing it since long time ago and i'm very happy with how the computer perform now, if I can't install the vista on this one now, well, I'll wait till buy another one later that comes already with the vista.

no u don't.. 2GB should be plenty and an overkill for an average joe shmoe.. unless you're runnig PS/CAD/GIS applications.. u might have other bottlenecks in the system.. bah..

I just upgraded my computer last week and the money spent wasn't big big whoop since i reused most of the parts.
I got the cheapest pentium D compatible asus motherboard $67 + tax
Intel Pentium D Duo Core $169 + tax
1 gb consair ram $129 + tax
1 LG DVD writer $36 + tax

All in all came up to $450 because there was some kinda discount for cash payments at Canada Computers.

BTW i went with AGP since its a bit cheaper.

Windows Vista

Release Dates:
Business Companies Release - November
Full Release - February

System Requirements:
Basic Requirements
• [li]A modern processor (at least 800MHz1)[/li][li]512 MB of system memory[/li][li]A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable[/li]

Best Scenario
• [li]1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1[/li][li]1 GB of system memory[/li][li]Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)2, Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel[/li]

You don't need 2 gigs of RAM. Minimum requirement is only 512. Better performance, of course, can be had by getting more than 512 of RAM. Vista is a graphics and animation intensive OS. It can drain your memory so fast. I have a test PC at work with only 512 RAM and its running ok. A little choppy when I load something up or do something that Vista has an animation for.

More information with regards to Vista -> http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...y/capable.mspx

Just a reminder:
If you are not running an Itanium or AMD 64, you are running a 32 bit processor. So if you are a [s]non 32 bit[/s](grammatical error) 32 bit user, please download the x86 one. If you have an Itanium or AMD 64 or any other 64 bit processor, download the x64.

chances are games will run on it. but i'm not 100% sure yet because some of the applications here at work can't run on vista yet.

wait till the full release if you really want to be on the safe side. plus the vista rc1 will expire on june 2007.
