Default Shark Fin or Stubby Antennae?

    Hey guys,

So i've spent time looking into both Shark fins and stubby's but can't decide. I've heard some bad things about Shark fins (sometimes difficult to install, bad reception, etc). Was curious if anyone had experience with either and which they'd recommend. It's for an 04 Mazda 3, getting tired of looking a bit like an RC car.

As far as reception goes, from what I've heard for our cars, it seems like the stubby gives slightly better reception. This is just based on what I've heard from other peoples opinions though.

As for installation, you can't get much easier than unscrewing your horsewhip antenna and screwing in your stubby. Sharkfin installation isn't much harder, just a bit more work in making sure you align the sharkfin properly before taping it down.

In terms of looks, I personally like the stubby better on a hatch, and the sharkfin on a sedan. But that's just me. Whichever you choose, you'll greatly be enhancing the appearance, as that super long horsewhip is just way too ugly lol. Good luck!

    +1

I wanted a sharkfin, but after seeing one a hatchback I changed my mind instantly. They look good on the sedans but look very out of place on a HB.

I enjoy the look of it on the sedan, was mostly just worried how detrimental it would be to reception. Any good place to get them, or just eBay?

Just another question, which vehicles Stubby also works on the 3? I heard an Acura MDX antennae would fit it nicely and dealerships might sell them fairly cheap?
I never understood why people put so much money into their cars...and then I finally bought one.

    Hey guys, question...
I'm looking into getting a stubby antenna for my 06 Mazda 3, does anyone have any suggestions of brands/places to buy them? I've been looking at different sellers on Amazon and eBay and a lot of the reviews said that they weren't great quality and didn't provide very good reception for the radio. So to anyone who has bought one and has been happy with it, where did you buy it?? Thanks!

You should be able to go to a mazda dealership and buy a OEM stubby antenna (from the Hatch models)
