Have you even been to the US? I'm not a huge fan of "American" attitudes, political values etc, but one-on-one there are plenty of Americans who are awesome, friendly people. I'd happily live and work in any number of places in the US. Avoid the ghettos and even some states for sure, but don't avoid the whole country if you've never given it a chance.

I often complain about living in Michigan for various reasons, but even I have to always remind myself not to generalize those experiences with the entire country. Every State differs. Some States/areas are great. Some not so much. Pretty much like every country I'd say. But of course for the most part, there are commonalities that spread through the American nation.
