Driving Background : My son is 21 with a Full G license for 1 year now, Clean driving record under my insurance (occasional driver) for 2 years....He just purchased a 2010 Mazda 3 GT and was quoted by Bel Air Insurance $261.00 / Month, Full Coverage living in Hamilton, Ontario !! I thought that was reasonable compared to other quotes we were getting from other Insurance companies, Bel Air was the cheapest for young drivers !! A little more Info : ... He just graduated from College and SCORED his first job with Siemens Canada in Peterborough, Ontario at the milltronics plant....He phoned back Bel Air Insurance with his new address (basement apartment) in Peterborough and his Insurance dropped from $261.00 / month to $171.00 / month !!! WOW !! I couldn't believe it !! I guess your living location has a lot to with insurance Rates !! Huge savings !! Anyway, thought I would share some info !!
Yeah this is actually most of where the cost/risk comes from.
I'm a 29 year-old male living in Mississauga and with full coverage insurance including a waiver of depreciation (aka gap coverage), I pay $1,746.62/year. As a monthly payment this would be $145.55 but I pay in four installments at the beginning of the year.
For most other people, you won't be able to get this deal. I used to work at a large insurance brokerage so I got both a group rate on my insurance plus return commission.
I pay $1700 for my Mazda and Ford (6 months for each car)... Your rate isn't that special sorry to tell you. I have full coverage + 2 million of liability.
However, I did tell my insurance company I would leave them if they didn't do something for me at renewal. I am 28 and live in the worst part of Sauga for insurance... I am close to Brampton... My girlfriend pays $700 less than me because she's not a man... Thankfully lol.
When I had my 2010 it was like $250 a month. When I got my truck, I got $94. I asked why, and it's because of all the extra airbags. The 2010 Mazda 3 only had the steering wheel/dashboard bags, I guess. No side curtain, etc....
So getting a safer car makes your insurance a lot less, in some cases.

You know I understand this is a Toronto Mazda 3 forum but I'm actually from Ottawa and reading some of these prices for insurance I seriously can't understand how you guys pay them. Is Toronto really that expensive for you guys? I thought it would just be cost of living, not necessarily insurance as well.
I live in a relatively dense part of Ottawa and I only pay $112/month full coverage at 24 years old for my 2009 Mazda 3.
Modifications: Mazdaspeed3 rear sway bar, AWR rear motor mount, Raceland coils, Konig Illusion 18x8 wheels with +45 offset, Corksport cat-back exhaust with Vibrant 4-2-1 header, Corksport short ram intake, Stage 3 clutch, Angel eyes with HIDs, Mazdaspeed3 interior swap with LED interior bulbs, Mazdaspeed3 spoiler and sideskirts and drilled/slotted rotors
Boosted soon
Its not just insurance that's expensive in the GTA - almost every aspect of life is. Come buy a house here
People also often lie to their Insurer and place their address at a relatives /PO box somewhere outside the GTA for cheaper premium.... And run the risk of being cancelled for misrepresentation lol.
