I thought about having them clear coated originally, except I was warned that if I was to get a small crack in the clear, it would spider web the entire finish.
That, and I was going more for Bronze than gold.

^^ Thanks. Yes- it was the first time out with that lens (I got it two days before). Since the 16-35 f/2.8 MKII was released, a lot of MKI's are being sold at attractive prices. In my opinion the difference between the two versions is negligible- especially on cropped camera's like the Rebel and the 30D.
