I was told this over a month ago. It takes this long for a kit to be sent from Richmond Hill to Newmarket? They told me the kits were at the Richmond Hill offices.

Its nice they're actually acknowledging a design flaw, and IMO $100 isn't really even close enough to cover the backlash associated with it (lower resale value, etc), but even with the steel beam/plate installed, if they wanted your burnt CDs or whatever else is in your car, the beam isn't going to stop it.

I would think a full security system would be a bit more appropriate, but hey, corporation is going to do what they can get away with I suppose...

What do you mean by lower resale value?

And really this is more about correcting a flaw that makes it easy to turn off the factory alarm and unlock the doors than it is about protecting CDs.

Has anyone also thought about this. If u have the "fix" and someone stupid has read the many threads about this problem on the net. u wanlk back to your car and there is a big dent in the door. maybe they didnt open it but there is still a dent in the door. who pays for that??

Lower resale associated with public knowledge of this issue. That was my second point - if someone wanted something enough in your car, regardless of whether it was a CD or not, they'd be able to break in via that exploit, if not via other ways.

I highly doubt that this will lower the resale value - especially since now the flaw is being corrected free of charge by Mazda.

Doesn't the correction only "reduce" the impact of this issue?

Still have not heard back from Mazda Canada and am starting to get totally fed up with this. It should not take two months to send a part to a Dealer

2 months? When I called them on Jan 11, they told me in about a month we would be getting the letters and the dealers would be getting the parts. Patience, young Jedi...

I'm really hoping it's $100 toward anything...Compustar would be sweet, even sweeter if part of it is on Mazda!

Yeah there is but it's an add on unit.

EDIT: Actually I think it only comes with the remote start but I found this so there seems to be a part... (found here http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=74596.0 on page 6 )

    Maybe Joe will know.
