    Default Indy Fog Mod

Ok I have searched and found several posts on the "Indy Fog Mod". I have a 2007 Sport GT and I am looking to control my fogs when I want. Id like to do the mod that is done in the fuse box area, that one seems the cleanest and easiest.

For those that have done this mode, are you able to turn you fogs on/off with the factory switch ?

That is still not clear to me me. It seems as thoug this mod has your fogs come on when the car is turned on. I don't want that.

    Please help clear this up.

    thanks

Do you mean the fuse box under the hood or the junction box inside the car?

If you do it from the fuse box, you will not be able to toggle them from the factory switch unless you run a wire from inside the cabin to the fuse box.

The indy fog mod where you don't run any wire is in my opinion much more complicated. You can find it in M3F it involves cutting some wires somewhere near the glovebox.

Yes sorry I was thiking of the one near the glove box. It didn't look to hard at all, maybe a little more involved. I just wasnt sure if you could still use your switch to turn them on and off and I want to be able to do that.

No offense but everyone will have their own opinion on this but I think cutting wires to the PBJ is just crazy! If you screw something up in can totally mess up the car. If you are you willing to risk your warranty then go ahead and do it this way. I found it extremely easy to do it the fusebox way and it can be returned to stock in like 3 min.

I have it done via the fusebox method in the engine bay and I have full control over the lights. I have no idea where you got the idea that you wouldn't have full control. Most people want them to be DRLs so they make them come on all of the time.

I have to completely agree with cwp_sedan. I have done it the fuse box method as well and it really isn't that involved to do.
I did it before the PBJ method became known but even after I read the how to, think about the ability to reverse it if need be.

IIRC, cwp_sedan pointed me to a good picture tutorial on how to do it some time ago. I think its on M3F.

thanks, I think I will go this route, I just didn't like that relay etc just laying in there like that. But it is easy to reverse when needed.

Go from the fuse box. McGuyver did it for me, and we threw in an in-line fuse for some extra protection. You have full control over the fogs as long as the car is on, but not in accessory. It also lets your fogs stay on for a couple of seconds after you leave the car. Nice to light the way

I had mine so that it stayed on for a while after the car was turned off but found that it could take up to a minute at times !!! Also the fogs would go on the minute you start up the car.
Now mine is setup so that when you start up the car the fogs DO NOT go on unless you release the handbrake. They will shut off immediately when you turn the car off.
IMHO I like the way I have it now.

Can yearoftherat or The Biz let us know how to do this? I want my HID fogs as DRL, and off when the handbrake is up. How?

There is some but I have seen others '07 with way more glare than mine. Honestly, you need to see them in person as a picture will never show what they truly look like.

I assume you are talking about the spot for DRL fuse?

EDIT: Wait, are you talking about the empty slot in step one found here http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=11730.0 ?
