    ALRIGHTY,

Spoke to service manager frank at Erin Mills mazda, Provided all the oil changes EXCEPT the one receipt that's missing which is causing all of this damn fiasco and he himself told us that over 1 oil change a car should not be neglected. Now, they cannot add on later saying it was denied because of speeding either because on the service form it says "denied because of lack of maintenance"

If they pull a double jeopardy on me I'm going to laugh, On top of all of this, I printed out all of the threads including this one just incase and highlighted important details, I also printed out my letters to the Toronto Star and my local newspaper. As well as a future thread ill be posting here about erin mills service and Mazda of Canada. If all this fails I guess were just going to have to fork over the dough to pay the lawyer.. He's really confident and willing to start soon but I am doing everything i possibly can my self before pulling out the guns. ANY suggestions?

Was the oil change really missed, or you just don't have the receipt?

BMW's made in the USA (like the X3 and X5) are much less reliable than the Mazda 3. My friend worked at BMW for a while and would always see the same X3's and X5's in for electrical and/or transmission problems, and even all the mechanics he worked with said they had garbage build quality and in general were just horribly engineered vehicles. That buddy of mine is a BMW fanatic and doesn't even consider them real BMWs. However, BMW's made in Germany (like the 3 and 5 series) have pretty good reliability.

the 2.0 and 2.3 in the 3 are Ford Duratecs (originally used in the Focus) with a Ford block and Mazda-improved head.

the current X3 is made by Magna International in the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria. it was never made in the USA. The next gen X3 will be moved to the USA.

From Wiki, not the best source, but something.

This includes the 2.0 L Duratec 20 the 2.3 L Duratec 23 and the all new 2.5 L Duratec 25. The engine is currently built by Ford in Chihuahua, Mexico; Dearborn, Michigan; Valencia, Spain; Laguna, Philippines; and Nanjing, China.

what the article in wikipedia doesn't mention is that the duratec/mzr was a joint collaboration between Ford and Mazda.

up to a recent point in time, the MZR had exclusive variable valve timing and variable intake manifold, when compared to the Ford Duratec version; while both engines shared the same block.

long story short, the engine is not *entirely* a Mazda, since Ford did have a hand in its development...which was what I was trying to say when I quoted alhope's post.

    2's, Miata's, RX8's,
The packing slip I found in my car said it was made in Hiroshima. Also, I have seen several people on M3F mention that the Mazda 3's were made in Hiroshima. Maybe it's different for the regular 3's, but I am 100% sure my MS3 was made there.

And again, everything I've ever heard is Mazda designed the 2.0 and 2.3 MZR with Ford looking over their shoulders because they were going to stick the Mazda engines into their Focus. I trust what my uncle says about Ford more than anyone. For 6 years he's been the CAW union head for the Brampton plant until he retired at the end of last summer.

I've heard that the 3 was built in Hiroshima as well, but this link says they're actually built in Hofo, which seems to be ~150km south west of Hiroshima.

I agree it was a joint collaboration, however your post made it seem like you were saying that they were an entirely Ford design that Mazda just took. Not quite. On the flip side I guess mine made it seem like I was saying it was an entirely Mazda engine Ford took. Boo misunderstandings.

Im not sure if the 09's are but the older Mazda 6 is not a Mazda engine. Its a Ford Duratec.
