    Can someone confirm?

    Dude,
You can't see a timing belt or chain just by opening the hood. You'd have to dissect the engine to see that. What you're looking at is the accessory drive belt for things like the alternator, power steering pump, water pump, etc.

You must be looking at the accessory belt. The timing chain is enclosed in front of the engine and you can't see it (you'd be in deep trouble if it's exposed!!)

The next thing to be mindful of is the motor mounts. Again a search would yield plenty of results.
The MOST common culprit is the passenger side motor mount. These are a liquid filled mount and are known to fail prematurely. One way to check is visual. If you see the motor sagging, it could be because that mount is broken altogether and should have been/should be replaced immediately.
If it is not broken/sagging, check the moisture in the rubber part of the seal. If it feels dry and brittle, the liquid has likely leaked out of it already, and it is no longer doing it's job correctly and should be replaced.
There are several options for this. There seems to be a growing aftermarket mount scene.
This one I have no recommendation for. Do some searches and see what would work best for you.
    The options are typically:
OEM (again, we know the issue of failing early, but it provides the most comfortable ride for street WHILE it is still working properly, but would not be good for any kind of "sporty" use, such as tracking/racing)
CP-E mounts which seem to be a common choice for something decent enough for every day driving that does not cause too much excessive vibration over the OEM mount.
CS Inserts (work with the stock mounts and fill up the empty space to again provide a nice medium for every day driving and not too much added vibration.
Medieval mounts which are pretty serious mounts, may cause more vibrations than the rest.
A lot of these are still relatively new and not much direct feedback is available, so again, do your homework and read as much as you can.

The prices on all of the above do tend to vary.
Firstly, thank you very much for this amazing write up! Unfortunately I found it AFTER I bought my 04 GT But I just bought it 2 days ago, and it doesn't have any of the issues above except one: the motor mount!

The motor looks to be sagging towards the passenger side motor mount, and when I check the rubber seal, it is cracked near the center and there is no sign of any fluid. I am quite sure it is broken and needs to be replaced.

Now, I know you listed some options in your post, but do you have any detail regarding where the best places are to go to have this done? And a ballpark range of prices?
