    Default Clutch Chatter

I have recently been experiencing "clutch chatter". I drive a 2005 GT Sedan 5 speed, it just turned 70,000 kilo.. I am not really a hard driver, but I guess I would fall into the catagory of "spirited driver". I really do not think my driving style would do damage to my clutch. Just wondering if anyone else is or has experienced this? Dealer says it is "normal" at this mileage and the only"fix" is a new clutch.pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. Need opinions please....

Sorry I can't offer help with a Mazda3, but my 2002 Protege has had clutch chatter since day one. It's not often or consistent though.

I'll mostly notice it when it's the first drive of the car if it's been sitting overnight. Temperature doesn't seem to affect the pattern either. Hot or cold days still does it BUT it's not all the time.

Dealer also said it's normal and diagnosed as pressure plate having play or some other junk that I didn't really care to listen to. 103,000 km later and clutch is still going strong.

I always drove my protege hard with lots of high rpm shifts... eventually it worn hotspots on the flywheel which induced clutch chatter in traffic after everything gets "warmed up"

needless to say, replacing the clutch AND flywheel will fix the problem.... the clutch may not be necessarily worn out, but it maybe defective (such as broken/missing hub springs)
