Just wondering - is it normal to have a charge on the invoice for tires filled with nitrogen?
I looked at an invoice and a dealer is trying to charge $60 for this.
Anyone have any comments?

its about $10 a tire
Ripoff, if you didnt ask for it, dont pay it![]()
Nitrogen is a rip-off anyway and so not required. In any case, you should not pay for something you didn't ask for and that they did not disclose fully in advance. No disclosure, no payment. Simple as that.

After the initial purge, most dealers will top up n/c
if it needs to be re-purged, most will reduce it to atleast half the original cost
But, it's really at the dealer's discretion.

ok - thanks for the comments. I share the same thoughts - this is a cash grab. I'll have this corrected.

You should be PISSED! I am a firm believer in nitrogen, as with air I had to constantly check my tire pressure, on hot and cold days.
I ran over a nail, and I got my tire fixed at Fountain Tire...they filled my tire with Air. So I had 3 tires with nitrogen and 1 with air.
Took my Mazda to a GMC dealership and they put nitrogen in the one tire for free!
When I first got nitrogen put in it at BIG O tire it cost me $5 per tire, but they rotated them for free, as you have to take the tires off to change from air to nitrogen.
There's a place in kitchener that used to (not sure if they still do) fill your tires with nitrogen for FREE. It was part of their strategy - FREE nitrogen. I'll have to drive by sometime and see if they still have their sign up.
Nitrogen rocks. There is no more hot pressure, cold pressure, summer's here so your psi need to be adjusted.... with nitrogen it's almost 'set it and forget it'.
I've read that nitrogen isn't worth it even though it's not expensive. I was thinking of going nitrogen awhile ago.. but read about it online and most people say it's not really worth it.

Okay, this thread was originally over 9 months old... newb!
Anyhow..
As I see it, Nitrogen is very very inexpensive.. it is all around us for free... however the machine used to put it into your tires.. is $1x,000
I have it in my winters... but never bothered to put it in my summers,
Damn you photobucket.....
I'm guessing there is a reason all race cars use Nirtogen in their tires. More stable, less condensation in the tires to name a few. I've used nitrogen in my tires on my car and motorcyle for a couple years now and there is a definate benifit. Rip off? I don't think so. $60 is a little high though. Average price is $10 per tire. That's my 2 cents. Take it for what it's worth.
