    Default Summers on a budget

As some of you know i\'m saving up for a huge downpayment on a house and
a wedding on top of that so i\'m on a REALLY tight budget.

Come spring, i\'m gonna have to replace my RS-Ass \'cause i\'m already
running on slicks as it is. (Seriously! you should see them!!)

Anyways, I just wanted to see what some of you recommended in terms
of cheaper, modest performing summer tires.

I want to keep the same profile (205/50/R17) as stock,
I want it to handle just as well, and i want to keep some of
    the \'zoom zoom\' factor. But I don\'t need any ultra-high performance,
triple Z rated, racing treads, just something that will get me by.

so what do you guys recommend and how much should i be saving up?

    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hankook K104

I ran the 104\'s last year ... Good as Toyo T1S but way cheaper

you should probably ask for an estimated price also just to get an idea of how much each suggested tires are.. or better yet call up tires23..

I would say the Falken Ziex ZE-512. They\'re all season performance, cheaper than most major brands. Treadwear is around 360 to 420 for the 60 series.

@ my friend\'s shop he sells a set of 17\"s for around $620 tax in.

    * Sorry, gotta do some promos for my buddy there

Or for pure summer performance, I\'ve seen a lot or RX-8ers put on the Falken Azenis ST-115 on their 18\" wheels.

    But I do agree, those \"Bad\"year RS-As really gotta go...the RS-A = \"Really Sucks-Ass\"

Running these on my RX8 rims for the summer. Huge improvement over the RSAs. I had no confidence in the car in the wet with the RSAs, but the ASX are a whole new ball game. I\'ve put 12,000km on my ASX already. However they will not be seeing any action in snow, as I have the KW17s for that.

they might cost a little more than a BUDGET tire but with treadwear rating of 420 they\'ll last you a few seasons.. oh yah.. and you\'ll gain a lot of performance

Price Tires23 posted back in March for 205/50/17:

    205/50/17
    Hankook K-104 $710
    Federal SS595 $600
    Kumho 712 $590
    Kumho ASX $725
    Toyo T1-S $945
    Toyo T1-R $985
    Yokohama AVS Sport $980
    Yokohama ES100 $735

Note: Falken ZE512 doesn\'t come in size 205/50/17 but 215/45/17 or 225/45/17, which the later is a closer match to the stock diameter.

I had originally wanted the Kumho ASX, but everyone was sold out when I needed tires. So I went with the Yokohama ES100. I have been very pleased with the tire.
