Hey guys,

I'm sure you can tell by my name that I'm VERY new. Just bought my first car (2006 Mazda 3) and I know nothing about cars whatsoever. However, how many kids get to say that their first car was a sweet one?!

Now i have a few stupid questions that I feel if anyone would be able to answer them, it would be you guys.

I bought my Mazda from a local dealer where I'm from and they were awesome! However, when I was in the process of buying my car, I never checked out the sound system. I have found that it wasnt meeting my expectations. When playing a CD or just listening to the radio, I have to have the bass setting on -4 to avoid it from distorting the vocalists voice. Before getting my Mazda I was driving my parent's 2003 Toyota Corrolla and I found that the stock sound system in that car was amazing! Did I get a car with crappy stock speakers or is it just my car?

Any input would help. I was thinking about getting a new system but I'm basically flat broke.

You got one with crappy speakers. My stock system in my '06 GT (non-BOSE) sounds really crisp even with the bass up.

Our 3's come with crappy speakers (stock ones) unless you consider the Bose ones good. I went from stock speakers > Bose > now JBL GTO speakers. If you're gonna be driving it alot it's worth the upgrade.

Welcome Abroad... yeah, just get some new speakers. Most likely the ones in the car have been overpowered and damaged by previous owner.

I'd get some JBL components and coaxials for the rear. If you want a nice setup, I'd say around $400-450, if you want something decent, $350ish would sound about right for 4.

It's funny because I can put the bass on +6, treble on +4 in my 06 GT (non-bose) and crank the volume to the max and I still don't have distortion...maybe the dude i bought my car off of didn't realize the volume on this thing could be turned up
