I've been shopping for a new insurance plan lately, as I will be driving to school in October.
I received a quote from Belair, Statefarm, CAA and TD and they all came around to 400/month...
I live in richmond hill, I have a clean record with no at fault accidents and citations. I had my G license for about a year and a half now and I am driving a 2004 mazda 3 sport gt... My friend who is the same age as me (21) drives the same car but lives in North York and his insurance is 250/month... UGH.. I've even taken a driving school course and I had my license for almost 5 years now in total...
Can anyone recommend me another company, or know why my insurance is so high?
I'm going to try Johnson's insurance tmw since they won't give me an online quote because I'm under 25....
How is Johnson when it comes to making claims and such?

My sister inlaw is with johansons and she just made a claim and they been good so far

Give RBC insurance a shot, they were the lowest price option for me when I was looking. I had no problems when I had to make a claim because someone smashed my car while it was parked on the road and ran. I paid the deductible and they paid out the rest, they even didn't have a problem with the fact that I had a particular shop that I wanted to take care of my car.

I use Co-operators and I'm paying 160/mth but I have multiple products from them so I get a multi line discount.
Their claims process is the easiest one to deal with imo.

26, female, G with 1 ticket $218 (we have home insurance and 2 cars)
economical insurance but I went through an Insurance Broker
32, male, married, G with no marks on the licence and no claims bonus, plus home insurance discount... For the wife and I together (her, 32 G licence with no claims, only 2 years driving experience though since my company doesn't carry over experience from Ireland) we are paying $232 for a 2010 GT Sport and a 2008 Rav4 Limited (4cyl).
Oh, and that's through TD Meloche Monnex (with an alumni discount from Waterloo too).
Aaaand, also forgot - Oakville.

Oh yeah - Oakville.![]()
I'm 20. I have an 05 Mazda 3 Sport. Clean Driving Record and my address still says London. My Insurance is 171 a month. However, I get a student discount, the car is primarily parked in Welland Ontario, I have 4 Winter Tires and to boot, my mom works at an insurance company, so I get a break through her as I'm "still living at home" according to my liscense.
This is through "The Personal" Insurance company which I believe is a constituant of Great West Life.
I've never had to make a claim though, so I don't know how they are with that.

ID rather be upfront before it bites me on the ass, some companies put a Dollar amount on the mods and if it doesn't equal that amount, they don't care (bel Air i think is $5000 according to their site)
The personal is with Desjardin Insurance, I'm iffy with the personal i got quoted the wrong price so it was not being paid properly, instead of notifying me they just cancelled it and told me a month later

I didn't read thru the whole thread, and I dunno if I've even posted in it before, but I'm with DesJardin, and have been with their predecessors, Certas (who underwrites for them) for 10yrs, they were CIBC ins before Certas back in 97. My policy just renewed. it's f'n stupid the cutbacks without reducing the cost of our premium to go along with it. I don't recall how much my 3 costs exactly, but with my wife's 2003 Vibe, it's $258/mth (they're almost the same 50/50 cost wise), and I recently came from a 95 Jetta VR6, and thought "I'm screwed with this 3 and my renewal", but it went down $5 LOL!
I've been hit with a couple tickets and a 'self involved' accident (got cut off) in the last 5yrs, and a huge one in 2004 for 105kph in a 50 (though it was an 80 zone at least - it was way up in the country and long before the stunt law) with that ticket my license had was expired too for a grand total almost $600, but got the license one dropped ;-D. That year I thought shoot, I'm gonna get smoked... I LOL'd my Ins went down again by $10
maybe 'cause I've been with them so long, I dunno. I also asked them years ago about mods... at that time the agent informed me that I could do $1500 (I think) without an appraisal, after that, my premium would obviously go up with more gear.

FYI the personal, is okay with stereo and visual mods, but no Performance enhancing mods
