Default 2010 fog hids problem (not enough power??)

not sure why this is happening. hopefully someone can help me out.

    both bulbs work 3000k 9006.
    both ballasts work.
i have hids in the low beams 6000k H11.

when i have only one fog light plugged in it turns on (that is how i checked the bulbs/ballasts)(i did this on both sides).
when i have both plugged in sometimes they both turn on and sometimes only one side.
it will randomly start working again a day later, then the next day stop working again...

ideas?? do i need a relay??

Sounds like a wiring problem of some sort, maybe a loose connector/plug not getting good connection.

No, you dont need a relay.

I believe this happens when your kit misfires. This happens when you invest in cheaper brands. I've had this happen to me when I had my stock projectors and a drop-in (Plug 'n' Play) HID kit. What I did was turn it off, then turn it back on a couple times until the side that was off turns on.

The more expensive brands like Philips rarely have this problem.

(On a completely different related note, those drop-in kits will melt your projector bowl. The light will then lose its effectiveness. That's why you see some cars with HIDs in halogen headlights and they're not even bright (or blinding like they should be). Cause all the reflective chrome has melted.)

I thought that HID's run much colder than halogen bulbs.

What wattage is your kit? Fog wiring should provide enough current to start up a pair of 35W bulbs... 55w, not so much:

I thought so too, until I switched to TSX projectors and looked inside my stock projectors and saw that the chrome had begun to melt...

^I've done temperature test comparing HID to halogen and HID run cooler for sure.

    For 35W that is.

may have been a connection issue. i went back under the car last night and "pressed" all the connections together as hard as i could.
we'll see if the problem comes back.
