Hello,
Its been a year since i been driving my 2010 Mazda3 GS (automatic). I live in canada and here it snows a lot. So considering that on an average i am getting 25.1 mpg from sep 2010 to aug 2011- In between i have missed about 8 fuels up (4000 kms). Right now i have 17000 kms n the car. Is this a reasonable mileage am getting? I mostly drive 65% city. As not many highways here. What is the actual mileage that other people here r getting?
Thanks

I get about 18L/100km, in my SUV so enjoy the great fuel economy everyone lol

Teehee... 5.2-5.3L/100km mixed city/highway.. more rush hour in the city since I live right in downtown.![]()

Wow that's amazing! Only downside is that it uses premium huh? Does it still work out to be cheaper?

Lol, okay I figured out where I went wrong. The mileage on my 2nd fuel up was off by a lot. Guestimated the mileage but now it is too high... I can say for certain that my 3 isn't getting 30mpg.
y'know what.. I'm just gonna delete that fuel up lol.
Just did 8.5L/100KM on my latest fill-up for my 2nd gen 2.5.

4 fill ups 9.6/100km hope it gets better after my first oil change
Everytime I fill up from practically empty.. like at less than a bar left... It kills out at 48L... do I really have a 12L reserve tank??
Also, I sometimes put in 91 just for the air miles @ Shell, I feel I get a bit of extra milage out of it and my car seems a bit more peppy (2.5L) or is that just psychosomatic??
less than one bar left*. Ps- Can I edit my posts once posted?? lol

Can edit once you hit 100 posts. Even then, you can only edit for 12 hours after posting, though.
Using 91 is a waste of money and any perceived performance gains are purely placebo effect - octane is added to prevent detonation in high-compression engines. In a normally-aspirated Mazda3, additional octane is of no use. You can theoretically travel a bit farther on some brands' higher grades though, because they will have less ethanol content. For Shell, 87 is up to 10% ethanol; 89 up to 5%, and 91 is ethanol-free.
In most cases you should probably just stick to "regular", 87 octane fuel though.
As for the fuel capacity on the 2.5L 2010s:

Slight improvement this week... 2000 kms on the odo.
I did the second fill-up today on my brand new '11 Sport GS with the 2.5 litre engine. So far I am averaging 8.2 l/100 km. That's with50/50 highway vs. city driving. This is much better than I had been expecting.

I get 500-550kms to a tank with my boosted 2.3l on 91oct.

My handy dandy Gas Cubby app is telling me I was getting 9.1L/100km before I cleaned my throttle body.
6 tanks after cleaning and I am now getting 7.9L/100Km.
Only other engine mods I have done are K&N Panel filter and the Throttle Body ground.
Usually get about 550-615km/tank.
Not bad for an 06 with 200,000Km

4.1L/100km on the last tank. Mostly highway, a little bit of city. Weeeehooo.
