Thumbs down Moffatt's Northwood Mazda of Barrie

I went to Moffatt's Mazda for my first oil change last Wednesday, and I was surprised how they treat their customers and my car.
The service rep asked me if I wanted to do tire rotation so I agreed but he didn't inform he it would cost $24 just to do tire rotation. Car was not washed either. I went back home (waited for a hour) checked engine oil and it's just barely above minimum line
I will never go back again. Shitty service + incompetent service tech

You have to know that the dealer will never do anything for free, unless warranty work. This is why people call them stealerships.

Depends very much on the dealership.

A while ago I took my car to QEW Mazda with what I thought was a bad bearing. They road tested the car, and put it up on the hoist to checked things out, including making sure the suspension components were tightened properly. Conclusion was tire wear (feathering) was the source of the noise. Didn't charge me a cent for the technician's time. And, I should point out, since I have after-market wheels and suspension, it would have been entirely justified for them to bill me for the time.

I used to take my corolla to Toyota dealership for oil change. They lube door, chassis, wash and vacuumed and they only charge for $28 tax included
Now I know they charge for tire rotation...and they don't bother to check my oil level after oil change, I will never let them touch my car again!!!

So im looking into this...when and where do you get your oil changed for $28 taxes in and a wash? B/c the Toyota Canada site says $38.95 plus tax. http://www.toyota.ca/cgi-bin/WebObje...age=english%3E So I'm wondering whar year your talking about. I think your posts may be leaving some details out.

Your not telling us somethings. $28 for a oil change, lube doors, chassis, wash and vacuumed seems really cheap

Sorry to hear about your bad visit(s).
Perhaps speaking to a service manager would quell any issues you have. It is not likely a reputable dealership is going to commit such an act as to not properly check your vehicle and perform an oil change.
As for the tire rotation, yes it is a charged service. However, if you did not agree to a price, you should have disputed that at the time you were paying your bill with the service manager.
Sometimes a dealership will have special packages on combined services which may save you quite a bit of money (if you want more info. as an example, PM me). Look into these types of packages next time you are in for a service visit.

    oh he mad now

dude its a forum, your new and you post your opinion. you might not like the dealership but some ppl might, go read other stories. i think almost every place on here has a bad review at some point. they cant be perfect to every person that comes in. as far as i know that dealership isnt a sponsor on here so they wont really care if you post it on here.

you said youd never go back but yet you did.

honetly, you have a flat, it wont hold air. not tehir issue really and if you ask for something and they wont provide, leave and go somewhere else. simple as that.

I sincerely hope you are being sarcastic.. We all gave you positive input and explained to you what you should/could have done.
Now that you know, don't visit the dealership again and find one with a more reputable recommendation by searching the forum.

I work at the dealeraship in question. While I am sorry to hear that this member has had a poor experience while in for service, I would like to add that he did show up 10 minutes before closing. Both the technician and advisor stayed late to try and help him. After all was said and done the tire was unrepairable. The customer had the spare tire installed and was not charged for any of the service provided. As a dealership we are here to provide excellent service, and as another member has provided, we can't make everyone happy.

Not to stand up for the technician, but unfortunately that's just the way Sean and some technicians are. I can almost guarantee there is a technician in any repair facility isn't very personable. This is the reason service advisor's are put into place. Maybe before you slag on the entire dealership you should at least point out some of the positive things that we did do for you, instead of all the negative.

    +1000

the dealership we go to in ottawa has one of those technicians. we just chose not to let him work on our cars. you have the right to say who works on your car.
the perticular one im talking about even went to say something about the parts guy at the dealership (a friend of ours) and he could not be more wrong about him.

awesome dealership but one person makes it a bad experience so make sure you dont deal with that one person anymore. problem solved.

I have ALWAYS had excellent service at this dealership.

On another note, I'd SNAP if a dealership "washed" my car. I am anal about the methods one uses while washing a vehicle. I'm the only person who should wash my own car. Why do morons want a dealership top wash their car.... they are there to fix your car not detail it. This is why you take your car to a car wash...or a detailer if you want your car cleaned...

On what planet would a dealership perform a service for you, such as a tire rotation for FREE.....? I hear that one a lot "my dealership sucks, they didn't tell me I was going to have to pay for a tire rotation I agreed to...they tricked me." Blows my mind...

only good experience i've ever had with this dealership is with sales, every service advisor i've dealt with has instantly ruined my day by talking to me like i'm stupid and know nothing about my own car, and trying to get every penny out of me, for example.. I had my check engine light come on a few weeks ago so I went in to see if they could check it out and was told it would be over $100 just to diagnose it and that it wasn't covered under warranty so I said absolutely not i'm taking my business elsewhere, went to grey motors in owen sound and they were happy to check it out, put it on the scanner and everything free of charge, said it was under warranty. I have had more bad experiences with the dealership in barrie before that but since this one I have not and will not go back.

I just got my car from them this week and haven't had any issues so far. I guess I will see once I take it in for the first check up. I did get a customer survey thing and one of the questions was "You should receive a mazda new buyers survey soon, will you rate our dealership a 10 for everything" (or something like that, can't click back on survey since I filled it out). I thought it was weird to have a survey tell me basically what to do for another survey :/

Theres a Mazda Canada CSI Survey then theres a Dealer survey. Not all dealers do it, but some do. They just want to make sure you were fully happy with your experience.
