    Default Caska rear view camera

    Hi,

I recently hooked up my rear view camera to my caska headunit. As it is now it only turns on when I press 'cam'. I know this is because I hooked it up to switch power. My question how do I get it to recognize that I am in reverse.

    Thank you

You need to run a hot wire from the reverse lights to the camera, that's how the camera determines you are actually in reverse.

If I did it in that way the camera would only receive power when the reverse lights are on. How would the headunit recognize this ams automatically switch? If that were the case if it had constant power like it does now then it should always appear on the screen not only when I press camera.

'sube' almost got it right... slight clarification:

Keep constant power to the camera just like you have.
Then a second cable gets connected from the reverse light back to the head unit (blue wire if I remember correctly?)
There are a few wiring diagrams in another threads that talks about that specifically.

This is what I thought. I saw a wire on the back of the unit labelled 'back' and I connected that to the light green wire with the black strip but it didn't switch to the camera on the head unit.

yes. The modified diagram is exactly how you need to wire it.
