    $25 less from $250 so $225, still a lot!

I would tell him to RIP it but my parents said part of the ticket say they can go and actually charge you if you dont pay. So my parents are going with my brother to the police station to see what they have to say about it.

im quite certain what it means is that you're being charged $25 bucks if you pay within 10 days
if you wait until later it'll be $250

the "discountED amount is..." not "the discount amount is"

which means they've discountED it, and therefore the ticket is $25 if paid within 10days

they issue the exact same ticket at my condo.

    Im with you!!!
Don't pay it, give them a call and tell them to G-F-Y-S.
I wouldn't even remove any doubt and pay the $25.
Honestly..hang on to the thing, and ask the York region cops to advise if this is a legitimate and recognizable imposed ticket?. Call the City of Markham if you want. Just phone them up.

Do you think this outfit has access to home addresses based on liscense plate info, in order to send out payment reminders? Im sure the privacy act wouldnt allow it.I still think its a scam.

If they end up coming after him, plead ignorance and say I never got a ticket. besides, I dont see an colour or make of vehicle on the thing.
Why is the money going to brampton when the alledged offence was in Markham? Parking tickets generate revenue for citys.

There's too many loose ends with their checks and balances.

I wouldn't pay it. This is a scam. If you go to their website and try to pay you can actually enter in any number and pay. I entered in 123 and then I was brought to a screen to enter in my credit card number to pay off ticket # 123.

It's a fake ticket. Report it to the police and be done with it.

Any time a ticket tells you to go to some city outside of the city it was issued in, it's an obvious scam. Especially if the ticket tells you to give them your name, phone number and address.

LOL - That's the most retarded website I've seen... No legit website will ask you to input the amount you want to pay after you enter your ticket #.

Exactly what CWP said....if you think you can laugh and walk away....think again...because when the owner of the vehicle (to whom the plate belongs to) goes to renew his/her license sticker, that's when you get "EL SHAFTO GRANDE" !!! no pay ticket?? no get license sticker. Condos, private property organizations, all are allowed to issue parking infractions if they're registered by the C of TO. So if it goes by for ......say.... 4 or 5 months till it comes time for the owner to get their license, there will be interest, as in on a credit card interest % scale, etc etc.. then it'll be too late to try and grovel (beg your way out).
Like Burner says, if you pay early, you will most likely pay the "REAL" amount that would be most reasonable, like as in half. Worst thing you can do is try and BS ur way out like someone said earlier.
I live in Ottawa and I once got a ticket parking on the street in Gatineau (Quebec)...and I got a ticket....for 75$..and then in small print on the back it said"if you pay by blah blah, it'll be 75...if you pay by blahh it'll be 97$ :o and so on.. you get the point. nuff said... pay it and take your lumps or....since it was ur brother... givem a beatdown he he

This is NOT a city of Toronto ticket, it's a fake ticket, by some "security" company in brampton that is trying to scam people.

This ticket definitely looks like a scam, given the way the website is set up.

At the same time, are private companies allowed to issue tickets for private property (either their own or for third parties) or does it always have to be either from a city cop or a company that is registered to issue city/government tickets?

I got a ticket at York University years ago, which I ignored because it was a non-government ticket and I assumed the only thing they could do was withhold transcripts (I wasn't a student there). Didn't go against my license, but eventually I got a notice from a collections agency.

This is amazing, glad I found out about this. How can law enforcement allow such scams to go on, unless it's legal...maybe I should start a parking lot enforcement company

They legally cannot do anything. York is private property and they can only withhold transcripts, deny admittance, etc. They can send it off to collections, but the agency knows it's not going to be collected. And it cannot do anything to your credit rating.

Just the dudes photo of the ticket. Worth checking out PLUS he has plenty of time to verify it from the photo of the back of the ticket. Curious to see how this will play out...

I like the reporting officer in the pic of the ticket. B.G. Shamoon <==(Shame On).

This looks like a scam to me. I'd confirm with the property owners first and then report to the police just to clear your self.

You realize this thread is almost a year old right? Everything has been dealt with already. And it was determined that it is a fake ticket, and that you need to report it or ignore it.
