Post Looking to Replace Antenna on My 2006 Mazda 3

Hey guys, Ive bought a 2006 Mazda 3 GT (Sedan) with 106'000 KMS on it. So far I love my car, but their are some body things i need to work on, & one on them is the Antenna Replacement. The dealer i bought it from took the car for a wash before giving me the keys, Stupidly he forgot to take the antenna off. So the antenna is broken, and The bold it stuck inside the base. Since the entire unit has to be replaced. I was wondering if you guys know any auto technician who can Install a Shark Fin Antenna & does a extremely good job? Also i live in Brampton so closer the better lol

Why don't you install the Shark Fin antenna yourself? Very easy to do, you'll be done in no time.

If you have to remove the base I'm pretty sure you have to take the headliner out. Don't quote me on that but if you can't access the treaded part that goes into the base to remove it, you will have to replace the entire thing (antenna base).

Maybe give some of the car audio sponsors a shout and see if they can/are able to do it.

Yeah, but not if the stock antenna is busted off.

If you mean by "the bold is stuck inside the base" you mean the antenna snapped leaving the stud that threads into the base behind: Easy to fix. You just need a screw extractor to remove the broken off part. If the damage is worse than that you may still be able to just add a Sharkfin, but you will need to make sure you can get a good connection between the wire from the Sharkfin to the conductor on the antenna stub.

^ Ya if it's not too damaged.

I was just thinking though, if it came from the dealership and you just bought it like that, make them replace it. :/

Go back and tell them to fix it. You bought a car and they broke it before you even took possession. They should be fixing it.

If the antenna mast is broken off flush with the base just cut a nick in the broken stub with a hacksaw and screw out with a flat blade screwdriver, You might nick the rubber base in the process but after the new mast is screwed on just rub a little black silicon in the nick. Or use the opportunity to install a sharkfin.
How do I know this had to do it on my last car. some YOB broke off the whip antenna.

BTW to replace the entire antenna the headliner needs to be dropped. I would insist the dealer replace it since he broke it before you took delivery.

    Pat.

On another note, I replaced my antenna with one off of a newer VW Beatle. I'm pretty sure that the corolla has the same one as well.

Went to a scrap yard and got the antenna and a cargo cover (hatchback - bought it used and it was missing when I bout the car) for $10.
Dealer wanted $45 for a new antenna and I think they wanted over $100 for the cargo cover. back to the junkyard I go for a window switch. Only works when I apply pressure slightly to the right with my finger.

I had the same problem with my driver window. Took it apart and filed down the center hole for the screw so the 2 pieces of the unit would go closer. Worked perfect ever since
