pick between the 2 speed3 or rx8

RX-8. Much more dignified-looking a car to show up to a business meeting in. You'd never be taken seriously with a Speed.

I'd skip them both and get a G35 Coupe, or if you want a hatchback, a Cooper S.

LOL the A4 is complete garbage. They're fine until they're out of warranty and then they fall apart... literally. Everything has broken in my one friends A4 - his entire suspension needed to be replaced, his fuel tank rusted thru, his oil stick broke inside the oil pan, all his brakes seized, his parking brake was rusted, his heat stopped working, even his heated seats broke (both sides), his trunk opening thing broke etc etc etc. I recently met someone else with a newer A4 that had just started having those exact same problems too.

Umm yeah, I don't buy that. The newer ones (2.0T, B7 & B8 models) have much better reliability track records. I had one as a long-term press car and it was just fine (2008 2.0T 6MT).

So, just because my 2006 Mazda3 blew up and almost killed me, I'm guessing the Mazda3 sucks now too, right?

speed3, just because the RX8 has its.. problems and waiting for a replacement engine sucks. speed 3 is more reliable and i find more fun to drive. yea the high rpms in the rx is nice, but the feel of boost and if you change the BOV just nothing like it.

i know my next car will more or less be a speed3, unless at that point there was a little one.. but then id get the speed and the mrs would have the suv

yeah, some of my relatives drive eurotrash because of status symbols... they lease them of course, so they never experienced how horrible those cars really are

the problems with the RX8 "unreliabilities" is because people tried to drive/take care of their car like they would with a piston engine.... rotary engines need "tough love", not pampering.... I've seen some fine examples of RX-8s where the whole car was immaculate, but the owner drove the piss out of them and had ZERO motor problems

that's not necessarily true. my GTI was lightly modded (chipped, intake, water meth, downpipe), and i never had a proble with it, that i didnt cause myself.

How long did you have it for? Try keeping one of those 5+ years and watch the problems add up.

As much as I love the GTI (& that love redevelops with every new generation released), I'd personally be scared to own another VW.

this opinion will never change, however. the Rotary engine, while in theory is a fantastic engine, is a real heap of shit. it's not all that fast, it's not all that reliable, it naturally burns oil, and the apex seals need to be replaced at 100k.
