    Default Diamond Kote

Is buying the 10 year warranty for rust sound and paint worth it? or is it cheaper to have it done somewhere?

And have you tried asking around from outside garages how much it will cost you?

It's 500 each (sound, paint and rust) It just needs to be inspected every year and they will reapply if needed. i checked around the other threads and found out that rust proofing is around $90.

That's a rip off ! Go to Krown for rust proofing. Can't beat that.

yes, they only apply it once, and they will check every year and will reapply after 5 years. it's new to me that's why I gave it a shot. If this doesn't work out Krown will always be there.

    No - dealer profit.

Rust: I did a quick google search and it covers only perforation of the vehicle.
Sound: Really? Are we talking about the speakers or the CD player? Or are we talking about creaking/rattling noises which could be purely subjective.
Paint: Unless your using something abrasive to wash the car (steel wool) I don't see why it would be required. My grandfather has an 18 year old car and the clearcoat is now peeling off. This far exceeds the 10 year warranty.

10 years might seem really long but cars are being built better and better and should easily make the mark with no problem.

conversely, why don't people give less costly alternatives a go? what draw's people to spend $500?

jr auto has a deal for $50 or so for full (encompassing the entire car) rustproofing. the product they use is total lubricants (drip-less oil formula) and it is good for up to 2 years. given the price i paid, i could be thorough and get it applied on a yearly basis and still come out ahead with regards to some of the other more popular rust proofing products.

i would rather be disappointed having spent $50 then $500.

    just sayin'

when you buy a new car, all this things seem so important. Of course you want the best for your baby right?
why i'm asking is because my sister is buying a new one too and I'm thinking if I should recommend her these options.
looking back at it, it kinda looks expensive and unnecessary. I'll just make the best out of it I guess.

Annual rust proofing alone about $100 (today's price - who knows how much it'll be in 10 years)
So 10 years worth of Rust proofing will be about $1000 with NO WARRANTY against rusting. I say go for it
Paint repairs could be anywhere starting at about $500 - but its up to you if you want to repair it. Why not? $500 spread over your financing term is almost pennies a day
I wouldnt bother with sound - because speakers and head units are cheap nowadays anyway. Skip it and invest in better aftermarket speakers

When i bought my car they threw in diamondkote. after inspecting the undecarriage i would say its tucking bullshit and at 500 bucks don't bother. they all 'warranty' against rust. good luck making a claim
Oh damn, that sucks. Oh well, I stopped reading the Speed section because according to certain people only speed owners are allowed to even look at that section.

When I bought my first Mazda3 in 07, I got the rust module....was skeptical at first. I had that car up till a month ago (5 years almost), drove my car 365 in all weather. And not one spec of rust, not 1 bubble...nadda
So when I bought my wife's 2011 Mz2, we went with the module again. And samo with my new baby. My GS SkyActiv. It works...PIRIOD. and worth every penny too. Never knew how important it would be until it came to dealing for my 3. The salesman was impressed with the condition of my car, and we didn't even have to haggle when it came down to deal time either

Really? I always thought those were a scam...

I even regret getting the rust-proof done by the dealer

correlation is not causation. the electronic module would only be effective if you left your car in salt water...
