Here is a vid of my personal FTD on the last run (42.337s).... Car was a little bit tail happy today, was trying to break into the 41's but it didnt happen. Had lots of fun though, great to see so many people out. Got some more but I'll upload them later, bed time!
today was my first time, gonna take a lot of practise to get used to it, but dont think im going to be seeing more autox in the future anyways.
To used to the fun on the track
here was my somewhat okay run
(47.1 sec)

2003 Protege5
2007 Mazda3 GT

Current:
2005 S2000
I wish I'd made it out but I had to work. Although knowing that you were forced to keep the DSC makes me feel better about not being able to make it out.
Everything on the track happens soooooo slowly. lol. I'm glad I had years of autox experience before going to the track since it really sharpens your reaction time and teaches you to be smooth with your inputs. You should try it on a larger lot before you give up on it.

zuhair...you're jokes!
thanu: ditto what sjd says...autox is good homework for car control before going faster.

"It is amazing how many drivers, even at the Formula One Level, think that the brakes are for slowing the car down." -- Mario Andretti
good to see all the 3's out, its been quiet in the b classes the last couple years
i think so, you might wanna watch when you close your trunk next time... i think a dude is stuck in there
also running a 47 means you're a danger our there, heh![]()
thats the first time i've ever been told to fix my parking - usually we take up 6-8 spots and have a tent and chairs out
you guys had to change tires in the paddock lane, that was ridiculous... i dont expect to ever see that many people out again... and if it becomes more common they might have to move to online registering
usually what happens is 80-100 cars show up to event 1, and then it slows down until the end of the year... in August its not crazy to get only 30 cars and be done 6 runs at noon, in the past they've actually done 2 events in 1 day
nice taping work zzz3

+ 1
Being the first time in AutoX, waited over 1 hr to every run won't help me to remember how the course goes, hence I missed the course so many time and even got demotivated at the end.
Imagine driving for less than 60 sec on the course, but have to wait over 60 minutes for every run is not fun.
Maybe the Host should limit the number of participants?
It was a good experience but also a fraustated day with the long wait time.
*Helmet is an issue, because both drivers and passengers needed the helmet. Good that I brought my own, so at least I don't have to wait on the line before my run. Anyone serious about motosports should invest a $130-$150 to buy a good SA2010 or + helmet.

Picton:
For those of you who dont know, the regional series (CASC) had an event at Picton on their airfeild. 3 runways of awesome. It is the largest auto-x in ontario. This is an event you should plan on coming to if you like auto-x.

^no video of your fastest run? i was gonna double it and see where you got me
I have that video, but the camera was inside pointed at me so I can see what I was doing with my hands.
It is what it is. Beginners should always be lining up to get ride-alongs in other people's cars to help with memorizing the course, and seeing how much further you can push it, and where the many seconds can be found. I can relate to being overwhelmed and getting frustrated when first starting out, but look at it this way: the course changes every time, and everyone else has to relearn it every time. You'll find out why the veterans understand the course the more you go.
Tips:
- get there early, walk the course more than once--you'll eventually know what to look for and start making mental notes of when to brake/turn-in/be easy on gas
- have a friend sit shotgun and have them help with pointing the direction of the next gates
- some of the 'pros' can be damn-good navigators. What may take you a full day to improve a second or two can be accomplished in a single run with an experienced person riding shotgun. I know that from experience.
