    Default Plasti Dip Entire Car?

hey all...ive been watching these videos from this website called dipyourcar.com. I've seen a few mazda's get matte white or black wrapped and plastidip pretty much gives the same effect. I do know that there are chances of the plasti dip peeling...but ive seen how tough it is and was wondering if it wud chip?

Let me know your thoughts...i am really looking at doing this because i want to wrap my car but dont have the cash to do it. If there is a thread about this already please post a link

Here's the video i've been watching...

Let me know what you guys think

It should hold up against weather, can't say the same for rocks. Not even paint holds up against rocks though so it shouldn't be considered in your decision.

I plan on doing mine matte white next summer.

Chips are always a possibility. I have dipped the painted part on my grille in black and so far there are no real chips. there are some scapes that you can see on it. I have to redo it anyways as it came out textured and I dont like that.

Chips are going to happen, and repairing a chip isnt easy (but dip your car does have a solution for it). However you can always just peel that portion off and redo it, but usuallt the portion that gets chip is a large one to redo.

Talk to Reymando. The whole purpose of my stormpanda theme was to plastidip the whole car white. I have reconsidered the idea because of the Canadian brand dip suppliers. The dip smells like primer than dip. It applies milky vs the thicker viscosity American version.

Unless we are to mix it to the point it reaches consistency, it didn't.

I advise you to research further and save your money to have it wrapped

Yes that is what I mean. Dipyourcar.com does not ship to us. Only the us
They have an alternate site for Canada but removes the hazardous chemicals vs the us site.

    I'll show you what happens.

    After 2 coats

I waited for half an hour to 45 minutes then applie the third coat

Third was applied with a bit more dip, then this happened

I was actually looking at buying it from this US company as it comes in a kit with tape and sprayer and everything you would need including a mask for just $350.

I think that the vinyl is the same as plasti dip. You can peel both off and if you put enough coats of plasti dip you can make it thick like the vinyl.

cSPEED...let me know when your going to do it...i'm thinkin of doing mine next year as well. My car is white and i want the white matte dip on the whole car.

As for the rock chips i thought it wud be a little different as its a "rubber coating" and stuff might not affect the outside as much as regular paint?

Good luck with your project then! I fear about customs when the product comes in to Canadian soil.

And yes Lenny I was directed to the Quebec supplier but this is the product I used in which caused this breaking up of plastidip paint. Ever wonder why my mirror caps are black? I'd did a chemical reaction of splitting the paint. It ate the paint exposing the plastic on the mirror.

I would stick to cans and have a pro do this work.

Luckily it was only the mirrors.

I would suggest to ask our plastidip expert Reymando. He might even have sources of better dip paint them the one I got.

This is based on my experience with dipyourcaranada.com

Is that the same dip that they sell with nextmod? or was it the non spray kind. Reymondo says he sells the Industrial Strength one (Rather Peter sells it now).

Keep in mind the product is paint gallons not the spray cans.

Hopefully Rey sees this and provides his feedback and difference between gallons vs cans

Ah okay, I was worried it was the spray cans and that I'd have extra problems bringing in some Plasti from teh US.

I think the spray cans have more chemicals than the gallon cans...but i dont know much about paint...only a guess. im looking to do matte white on an already white pearlscent car...so most of the lines that you would see going from dark to matte white you probably wont see as easy

No and thanks for asking so I can clarify it is gallons not the spray cans that I used to attempt to dip the whole car!

The spray cans dry quicker and I was able to cover the front and side of my car easily! The only thing you need to be sure of is spraying evenly with cans.

No, was just going to stock up on 5-10 cans from the US since they're about $7 including tax each.

Go to zellers and pickup a couple of the spray handle things. ~1.75 or something each right now. Will save your fingers.
