I have mine running off the cigarette lighter, im just mindful to make sure I plug/unplug it when I am getting in or out, I have left it on for a full 24hours before and no issues.
Another 407 speed demon today, my words as he passed me were "I will see you in a KM", guess who got to his exit faster, even though was going slow :)

Also wouldn't the Möbius turn off and not drain battery once the car is off? Regardless of if you took oit off the cigarette lighter?

That was my plan, make my own lol. I was polite and actually moved and stayed in the fast lane, I could have easily just stayed where I was. I felt safe and in control when I was passing everyone else, mainly because I was on fresh snow and not packed down snow turned into ice. If I was to get pulled over I would argue that those people were "driving in an unmarked lane" and yes, thats a legit ticket, because I have gotten one.
Im getting flamed on RFD LOL.

I wish I had a dashcam here in Florida. Was driving my parents' SUV the other night and this guy was cutting around cars on a 3-lane road too fast in the rain. We're in the right-hand lane and he gets in front of us and speeds off, but suddenly starts slowing down. Swerves right to try and get into a plaza parking lot but ends up skidding off the road right into a light pole, right in front of us. Karma felt so good that night.

What am I supposed to be looking for here? The tail lights? The fact that he stopped? Not sure.
I think it's the fact that after his light turned green, there was still a car that ran through the intersection (seen going from right to left on your screen, perpendicular to your direction of view)
On a related note, just heard on the news that they're debating putting front-facing dashcams on all TTC vehicles. Certain busses already have them, but I think they're debating putting them on all the vehicles. Something like that.

Honestly it's true. This is exactly why I bought a dashcam. Looking at the video again, it does seem really sketchy. I mean why the hell did she have to brake? I'm so lucky that the other side of the road was just a driveway and wasn't a full curb. Still though, always gotta watch dumbasses like this.

That's when you back off and let her in. I hope your not the person who, if they want to get in your lane you speed up or don't slow down. It's called being a defensive, respectful driver. If I have my blinker on, and you're not letting me in, or starting to speed up, I will 100% start to slowly move into your lane so you back off and let me in.

Same here. It's one thing when someone just tries to jam themselves in, especially right when their lane is ending, at speed. But if it's in show traffic, or cruising where you've been indicating for a bit, other drivers should let you in.

My philosophy is, it all depends on road and traffic condition. If it's a lane merge with crawling speeds, you can somewhat slowly force your way in without bring a douche. What Stathakos video showed is not crawling speed. The Lane changer must merge into another lane under safe conditions. Forcing others to hard brake or slowly moving into other lane knowing another vehicle is coming at a higher speed is not defensive driving neither, and zero respect. Most of the time, drivers that can not judge speed causes problems. Just need to remember, we share the roads.

FYI I did back off and let her in. Even though she didnt even had her blinker on.
Nor did I even consider speeding up to block her.
Also I let most people in if they use their signals.

Yonge Street (pronounced "young street") is a major arterial route connecting the shores of Lake Ontario in Toronto to Lake Simcoe, a gateway to the Upper Great Lakes. Until 1999, the Guinness Book of Records repeated the popular misconception that it was 1,896 km (1,178 mi)[3] long, and thus the longest street in the world; this was due to a mistaken conflation of Yonge Street with the rest of Ontario's Highway 11. Yonge Street is in actuality 56 kilometers long.[2] The construction of Yonge Street is designated an Event of National Historic Significance in Canada.[4] Yonge Street was fundamental in the original planning and settlement of western Upper Canada in the 1790s, informing the basis of the concession roads in Ontario today. Long the southernmost leg of Highway 11, linking the capital with northern Ontario, Yonge Street has been referred to as "Main Street Ontario".

I edit videos professionally (somewhat lol)
It all depends on what kind of content you plan on creating
If your going in depth and fine tuning everything you create id suggest Adobe Premiere Pro (Windows and Mac OS). If your strictly Mac OS and want a easier interface and learning curve check out Final Cut Pro
Easiest ones to use would be iMovie (Mac OS) or VSDC (Windows (possibly Mac Os)).
These aren't free but im sure you could find a torrent and easily install them with no issues.

Looks like what I see all the time. I work right near a small exit off the 427 north. I cannot tell you how many times I see trucks with 53' trailers turning left (obscuring the view of the person who wants to go left) and some dumbass decides "oh well, I can't see if there's oncoming traffic so I'll go anyway". There have been numerous accidents because drivers don't yield to oncoming traffic who has the right of way (no stop sign).

Merging onto the DVP south from Lawrence. We're slowly accelerating with traffic, and there's ~1 car length between me and the Audi in front (the camera exaggerates the space). Instead of merging into the larger space behind, the Golf decides to speed up and try to slide in ahead of me. Sorry, not going to happen.

Witnessed this last night. 18 year old girl (driver of Civic) was badly shaken up and had blood coming down her forehead when we got to her. She couldn't remember where she worked all she knew is she was going to be late. She couldn't remember her dad's phone number. She was crying and asking my girlfriend for her mommy.

yes, emailed them the clip last night. Which is why it is on my Google Drive to begin with. The police officer told me he charged her. Which is unfortunate, considering the trauma she seemed to be going though at the time. But I guess it was just. She was going much too fast. And I guess it's a hard lesson to learn. But hopefully she won't be scared off driving forever after this.

This is what I thought. That is not a merge lane it's our lane.
The truck has barely any damage so I won't be making a claim , and with how insurance works now from my last accident she deals with her insurance. The cop just told us to go to the reporting station , I did right away she had to go later..I wasn't ticketed at all.

So here is how it stands;
-Police officer showed up, told us both to go to the reporting center. No ticket to me, no charge, no points, no police report.
-I gave the lady that I hit none of my insurance information, based on the Ontario No Fault clause she deals with her insurance (I went through this less then a year ago getting rear-ended)
-I went to the reporting center right away to get everything dealt with.
-I am not "at-fault" on any documents.
-My truck doesn't require any fixing, 5 mins with an exacto knife and I just cut out the plastic piece that broke, replacing whole bumper in spring anyways.
So do I need to let my insurance company know?
-No ticket
-No Claim
-No fault means she deals with her insurance company.

Your insurance company will find out regardless.
Fault is not determined by police or by the collision reporting centre or on any of the documentation you would receive. Fault is determined by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario's "Fault Determination Rules".
You are 100% at fault in this circumstance.
No-Fault insurance does not mean that you just deal with your own insurance company. No-Fault insurance means that your company pays to fix your vehicle, her company pays to fix her vehicle (thus avoiding her having to sue your insurance company to get damages paid) then behind the scenes, her company bills your company for the damage you caused. This is called subrogation.
Her insurance is going to pay to fix her car and will still tell your insurance about it whether you told them or not.

The police report (yes, I know he said there wasn't one, but that's exactly what you're doing at the collision reporting centre) will have all the information on it. His insurance will also be sent a copy of this report.

When Car A hits Car B from behind, Car A is 100% at fault every single time. There is no consideration for circumstance in the Fault Determination Rules.

Might as well get them to fix anything on your truck since the claim will go against you whether or not they pay you for any damages. (if you have one) your accident waiver will be consumed, but you're going to be stuck with your current provider for about 6 years until the accident falls off.

Don't believe I have the "1st accident forgiveness" on my plan.

Whether or not they pay money to fix your truck, the accident will be rated the same (unless you're with Wawanesa, they are a special case).
You would have to pay your deductible.

I was in a very similar situation as you back in January... All my truck needed was a new bumper. Pulled one for $40 at a pick and pull and coated it with bed liner, not worth my $1000 deductible
IMO not worth it to have your bumper fixed if you can fix it with an exacto knife :)

Also as a way to protect myself, as you'd be shocked to hear the amount of accidents that buses are involved in. Only problem is only a small percentage of buses have a cigarette lighter for power. Decisions, decisions.

That said there are truck drivers out there that force their way into your lane because of their size.... Truckers always complain about road users being disrespectful when in many cases its the trucker that is being inconsiderate.

Mobile battery packs would be a choice. Keep in mind there's a efficiency lost from converting battery power to actual USB power. For that, I use products from Anker which I find more efficient than other batteries that I have.

Its in the works, atleast in the GTA, all buses will soon be fitted with dashcams. Way to much shit going on all the time, so I guess they figured it was warranted.
I deal with it everyday driving through downtown streets...The shit people pull is unbelievable!

There have been issues with this internally, many Bus drivers either abuse and/or don't understand the concept!...Many drivers believe falsely that by signalling they can just go ahead, but that is not correct procedure. For example; if the vehicles are at a light and the vehicles are alongside the bus, the vehicle(s) have the right of way. Only vehicles further back of the bus must/should obey the yield. The bus driver must also signal, then view through his mirror and judge the speed of oncoming traffic before actually pulling from his position. The safety of his passengers is number one.
All and all from my experience most drivers will yield if they can but you always get the few that are just jackasses.

What he said.
I do yield to buses but if Im ahead of the bus and he tries to cut me off by driving forward into the intersection past me with his signal on... he is being the *******. Buses usually travel slower than most traffic especially in areas like hwy 7... how would you feel if you got cut off by someone at a red light only to have him drive slower than you.

Because I look at everything like an aircraft accident investigation:
The time between his headlights appearing and him entering the intersection was exactly 1 second (30 frames).
0.5 seconds later (15 frames), the accelerometer started to spike, peaking at 0.75 lateral g. (This was on snow tires. The book values indicate a maximum of 0.86g on normal tires.) There was no indication of my car slowing (i.e. braking) until after the swerve was completed.
I have no idea what the lag is between steering input and my car starting to turn, but the delay as the sidewalls flex and such is probably minimal.
Discussion: If I had braked at all, I would have been hit hard. Until I reviewed the data, I thought I could have swerved harder, and earlier, but 0.75g is at the limit of traction, and I had swerved less than 0.5 seconds of him passing his line. I'm lucky I'm not in the ER.http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u436/slam525i/2015-03-15%2004.08.40.jpg (http://s1067.photobucket.com/user/slam525i/media/2015-03-15%2004.08.40.jpg.html)

You'll notice at the 4 second mark that I am at the white line. At the 6 second mark the other car is at the white line but doesn't stop behind it. Therefore it makes you think that they got there first lol. My guess is that they were in a rush and thought I would exit the intersection faster...ain't nobody got time for that..

Even so, I think it's sort of "normal" to assume the guy is turning right on red, not going straight through. It's hard to notice "Oh shit, he isn't turning" in such a small time span.

I was chatting but I wasn't distracted.
I saw him as soon as his headlights appeared on the left. As I said in the "analysis", he was visible for exactly 1.0 seconds before he entered the intersection. In that 1.0 seconds, I didn't figure out whether he was going to stop or turn right, and it wasn't obvious to me at the time that he was going too fast to do either. Part of the problem is that in the 1.0 second I had, I didn't pick up a change in his speed. In other words, 1.0 seconds was too short for my little brain to decide if he was slowing down or not. The brain can quickly figure out how fast someone is going, but to determine whether that speed is changing takes a little more time. In the next 0.5 second, when the other car's path is obvious, I reacted and got the car turning.
As @m_bisson (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/member.php?u=10483) said, I assumed he wasn't going to do anything out of the ordinary. If I knew the white car was going to go straight through, I would have had an extra 1.0 second to react. Instead, I wasted that second trying to figure out what he was doing.
I'm not trying to "defend" myself here, but consider how little time 2.0 second is. That was the time from when the car was first visible, to when it disappeared out of view to the left (60 frames @ 30 fps). Say I was truly distracted and I was fiddling with the radio/GPS and I had been going just a tad slower. I could have missed seeing him in those 2 seconds, been hit right at the driver's side door, and be dead without knowing what happened at all.

I think it's a Godsend you didn't react in time, because the 'normal' reaction would be to brake and in that situation the impact may have been worse. You didn't really have enough time from what I can judge to tell what the other vehicle was going to do: Was he going to turn or not etc. The fact you kept your speed saved you here, and obvious from the minor damage at the rear...My thoughts anyways.
Glad everyone is okay, that could have been alot worse.

We drove around the sub-division on the right, looking for a white car with a damaged front bumper but couldn't find one. No point reporting to the police as there's no way to identify the other driver at all.
Isn't that for the police to decide?

No point getting it repaired as it's just the bumper.
I don't see what the police can do. They're not going to go and inspect every white car in the GTA for a scuffed bumper. They'll take down the report, slap a sticker on the scratch, and all I'll have achieved is wasting hours of my time. Being realistic, unless it's a major accident, nothing gets done.

I'm sure they'd expect proof that it's an IS250 beyond "My friends and car enthusiasts on an internet forum think it is". And even if they believed it, they're not going to go knocking on doors of everyone with one in the GTA. Not unless someone got killed and it made the news. I think your reaction was the best possible in that situation. The light was green for you, your mind is not expecting a car to just run straight through a stale red. You drove defensively to avoid a major collision and stayed calm. If the majority of drivers reacted the same way there would be a lot less accidents on the road. Glad to see the only damage was to your car and not you.

And I disagree. At every intersection you should expect that a car could drive through, even if your light is green. Nothing to physically stop any vehicle from running a red, other than the notion that they should stop

I hate when people reverse down a 1 way street thinking that's ok...
Just last week I watched a guy make an illegal left turn onto a side street off Bathurst just south of eglinton...
What did he do?
Buddy turned into the street as if doing a U turn, then reversed into the street, then did a 3 point turn to face the direction he wanted to go...

I hate pedestrians that think they ALWAYS have right of way regardless of the situation.
Newsflash for them: if I hit them by accident while they are on the street when they are not supposed to be, they are the one getting the ticket and they are paying for damages if there is any to my car ( I know because I know a pedestrian who got a ticket from something similar)

This.
Yes you should not hit them but some people are retarded and/or scammers.
I encounter many jay walkers every day and some of them do some really retarded stuff like try and run across the street before you come causing you to slam on the brakes.
A relative of mine got clipped by someone's rear view mirror while crossing the street on a crosswalk when it just turned red I think. Said relative got a ticket when the police showed up... Luckily no damages to the car.
Also another reason to have a dashcam. If you show insurance the footage and its clear that you had the right of way/ there was no way to avoid it (especially true with scammers that jump out the last second), it would make a big difference.

Insurance does not care if you have proof that they were in the wrong. You are 100% at fault.
There is a large misunderstanding between "police fault" and "insurance fault".
When the police show up and give the pedestrian a ticket for jaywalking, they are saying that this person is likely guilty of a misdemeanour offence. This is the police finding fault in the pedestrian. This has exactly nothing to do with insurance.
Your insurance company will still deem you 100% at fault and rate the claim against you.
Just like how you can hit a patch of ice and slide off the road into a tree. The police will come and say "oh, it's not your fault, you hit some ice" and not give you a ticket. The police have said you're not at fault. Insurance will still find you 100% at fault.

Still at fault.
If you have proof* that the pedestrian is a scammer, you're still going to be rated for this claim.
You may be able to provide the police with proof* of the scam and they may attempt to charge this person with insurance fraud.
This investigation/charge/trial may take years to come to fruition and all along the way, you're being rated for the claim. Once the trial is concluded and the scammer found guilty, you may apply to FSCO's dispute resolution service to try and get the fault assigned by the claim reassigned. By this point it's possible/probable that the claim is off your record anyways.
Article describing a pedestrian causing an accident and a legal opinion that the pedestrian cannot be charged:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/culture/commuting/a-pedestrian-caused-an-accident-is-she-liable/article14962924/
(yes, I understand that this pedestrian was not hit in the accident, but they were still illegally crossing and this action was the proximate cause of the automobile accident that follows. If you don't know what proximate cause is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proximate_cause )

Sometimes I can't tell who the moron is. You or the other cars? See the first clip in that video for an example.

It's a fraction, and how many have that haven't recorded by camera.

The first clip was definitely you, the red suv did not have a lane to sit in to wait to turn, he would have been in the turning lane coming the other way.
Unless I missed something?
The rest are mainly idiots though.

Last Thursday night just after leaving Jimmy's.
Literally right after turning left onto SB Woodbine Ave., this happens.
Car turns right without looking, takes out the cyclist on the sidewalk.
The cyclist was OK because he was wearing a helmet. His head hit the ground hard and if he wasn't wearing one, he wouldn't have been so lucky.
The car's door was completely caved in and the passenger window smashed.
I stayed with the cyclist with another witness until the ambulance arrived, helping clean up his scrapes. (Went through all of the napkins in my glove box)
Gave my info to the cyclist, gave my info to YRP for the police report and emailed the officer a copy of the footage.
Also my widow was encrusted with bugs from up north so the camera couldn't focus. KEEP YO WINDSHIELDS CLEAN.

That cyclist was going pretty fast on the sidewalk. Still the car should have checked. I wonder what the legalities are on this one. Technically the cyclist should have been on the road but the driver should have checked. The cyclist could have a concussion in addition to those scrapes and bruises.
