Shaking, vibrations... An never ending adventure.
So I bought this car used in End Feburary from a mazda dealer. Since I had the car I've had some issues.
But right now, I'm dealing with some vibrations in the steering.
1. Vibration happened when applying breaks. The dealers resolution was to FINALY after months of harassing to machine my rotors (it stopped). But More issues followed right after.
2. More vibration plus feeling like my right wheel was coming off. Resolution was that I found the engine mount #3 was busted, they replaced it.
3. Vibration is still present, I changed my front tires, after rotating and balancing didn't fix anything. It made it a little smoother, but still present.:bang
4. Right now I'm getting frustrated, as my Mazda is NOT fun to drive. I'm wondering if the vibration is just there because they forgot to replace or machine the pads when they changed my warped rotors in front.
I need help here I'm at my wits end.

Re: Shaking, vibrations... An never ending adventure.
when does the vibration happen? when braking? at a certain speed? all the time?
-if you're still having a vibration when braking, just replace the rotors. they aren't that expensive, and it's usually cheap to replace than it is to machine.
-if it's at a certain speed, your tires are most likely out of balance.
-if it's all the time, you're problem may be else where.

Re: Shaking, vibrations... An never ending adventure.
I get the issue while driving and seems to be worst intermittently. Ill be driving and then start feeling it and then goes partially away. I can still very slightly feel it though.
I had the tires replaced today and balanced, and its the same issue as before, just not as bad.
Heard some people say that an alignment might help.
CV boots = good
tie rods = tight
Rims = Straight
Ball joints = no play.
I do hear my tires though like a "wah wah wah wah" sound when driving that goes faster as I accelerate.

Have you looked at your wheel bearing? My suggestion is to bring it to another dealer.

this could be normal, depending on if the tire is louder than most, or it could be a bad tire/belt shift.
aligment might help.

Re: Shaking, vibrations... An never ending adventure.
Well I looked at the tires that were removed from the car today, and noticed abnormal outer wear on the tire. As where the rest of the tire is ok. So I'm headed to get a alignment done tomorrow to resolve that and see if it fixes the issue.

I had a similar thread about this and I have done the following but still vibrations present:
- Rotated tires
- Balanced tires
- Checked all bolts
- Alignment
- Bought and switched to RX-8 rims and rubber
I believe that lowering on Eibach Prokits can't be the problem since many members have it on with no problem and the vibrations have been there prior to installing.

do you have your AC on when it happens?

Re: Shaking, vibrations... An never ending adventure.
Its the uneven tire wear. Could be caused by alignment or toe conditions. This should be resolved with and alignment.
However, don't expect the alignment to fix the issue. The damage is done to the tires. It will go away slowly as they wear down.

I have 2 day old tires on it. But I understand what you mean, the old tires (the ones who actualy have the wear on them) would of taken some time to get there.

It happens with and without the AC on.

Nope, I feel it through the car, but its not violent. If it is shaking the mirrors I cant tell. Also yesterday it was described as a wheel noise by a passenger, saying its like a "wub wub wub wub" almost like dubsept sound.

Re: Shaking, vibrations... An never ending adventure.
FIXED!
So Alignment done = didn't fix it.
As soon as that was done I brought it back at the Mazda dealer where I bought the car. Spoke to the manager. They checked a bunch of stuff including bearings and even road tested the car with me. Finaly, the "claim" that they just rebalanced my tires. Now its gone.
Who would of thunk.

Re: Shaking, vibrations... An never ending adventure.
I have similar problems, what a small world of mazda 3's problems , my car shakes on gear at traffic stops and goes away if on N ... i guess its the mount #3, n then between 90-100kmph the car goes thru a vibrating stage before stabilising after it, but the wuh wuh wuh noise is much more louder.. I did alignment , and before that balancing at Active ross, which slightly lowered the vibration between 90-100 but its still there... wondering which dealer you went to and any specific fix's when the rebalancing was done.. !!.

Thanks for the link TheMAN, I guess even though the TSB is there , its going to go out of my pocket since the warranty for the 2004 is long gone.. but is it worth giving it a shot at the dealership, to c if they can do it as its a mass problem....

People are going to need more details. When are they happening and at least a description with more details than "i have vibrations" before being able to give you useful advice.

Re: Shaking, vibrations... An never ending adventure.
I meant more feedback from the OP.... the thread didn't have "happy ending"........
But I may have found my issue. and yes I checked the usual suspects.

Re: Shaking, vibrations... An never ending adventure.
Hi guys, i have similar issue: when i have to break on 120+ steering wheel start shaking like crazy, before 120 it ok, there is no such crazy shaking/ vibration (((
Noticed that 2-3 weeks ago on hwy 400, but after that i didnt take hwy so i've forgotten about that issue, but last night this happened again. I've scheduled tire exchange for next weekend, but it seems the issue not in balancing, right? i have only 23000 on my mazda 3 and i'm curios if it's breaks is it warranty case???
Thanks for reply.
