Heating discs and pads. Changed caliper but still the same

Hi my 05 Mazda 3 had a brake drag and was heating up to the point of smoke (rear driver side). Decided to change the caliper as there was resistance when turning the wheel by hand. So 150$ later I am still having the same issue. Decided to remove handbrake cable but still the same. By the way the caliper was purchased brand new. Checked for slack and bearing seem's fine. Did proper bleeding of system. Brakes are in perfect condition(6 months) the disc is good and not warped or blue. Does anybody have a clue or can point me in the right direction? Booster? Master cylinder? Any help would be great!

Where did you remove the handbrake cable from? Did you detach it from the hook on the caliper itself? Also, with the wheel off, can you spin the hub by hand with brakes disengaged?
Also, compare the wheel temperature from one side to the other. Using the back of your hand should be sufficient enough to tell is one is hotter than the other.

I removed the handbrake cable on the caliper itself still the pads rub on the disc. All other 3 wheels are same temperature except that one it get hot enough to boil water on the disc & caliper. And with the wheel off there is quite a resistance to turn the disc by hand.

I would check the slide pins one of the or both could be binding. When unscrewed how easy are the to remove from the rubber boot?

what are the chances of having the same problem with 2 different calipers? could it be the actual brake lines somehow?

is the brake caliper mount new as well? have the rails where the brake sits been clean/lubricated?

how are the ebrake cables positioned? mine somehow got "caught" at a point where it was adding tension to the cable and wore the pads more on one side of the car.

another factor could be that the caliper mounting is bent somewhat or its bolted in crooked.

another rare factor could be that the pads and rotors are designed too thick.

Took everthing apart today and cant see any problems... like I said calliper and bracket are new. Everything slides perfect and no binding anyware. Only thing to do before digging deeper is change the brakes and rotors (did not change them as they are only 6 months old) but what i think is happening is that the pads got so hot from the old caliper that the pads minerals and metallic sutff have changed because of the heat and could make the pads grab more that usual. What do you guy's think???

Oh yeah by the way i removed the handbrake cable at the the caliper so it's not that for sure.

if thats what happens to pads then i need to set mine on fire:chuckle. *sarcasm*

its most likely something else. are any of the cables and lines pushing or pulling the caliper onto the disc?? is it the correct caliper?? take a picture and post it up. maybe we can "i spy" something that may be causing the problem.

Have you tried to check the slider pins?

Don't overlook the brake hoses themselves.. over time they can swell/collapse preventing travel for the fluid. Since your car is almost 10 years old they are another thing to look at.

The parking brake doesn't make sense and you should be able to tell by pulling on it by hand (from underneath the car) as to if it works properly. http://vnc.thewpp.ca/stuff/bentley/e...2/ch7.2.1.html the fact that you disconnected it and it still drags confirms this unless there is a mechanical failure after the cable but that still doesn't make sense. Since you changed the caliper perhaps you have done something wrong? A second set of eyes and a manual wouldn't hurt.

If they go on fine and then drag something is not right. Who did them previously? You say they are "six months and in perfect condition" but they obviously are not perhaps there is a relation with the current problem? Did you examine the old caliper and were there any defects? If there is nothing wrong with it then you need to look elsewhere.
